Garnett to Celtics!

All I can say is that I am excited for this. What do you guys think? Did they give up too much for Garnett?

Yeah they gave up way to much for one guy who is almost past his prime.

The celtics better do something within the next 3 years or they will regret this for the next decade.

Oh yeah and I hope they change those uniforms. They're so gay.

I'm from Minny, and I don't think Boston gave up too much at all. Gartnett is a class act, one of the most popular guys on and off the court. Yeah, he's getting old, but he's going to bring experience and leadership to the Celtics, and plenty of triple doubles. I'm sad to see him go, but happy because he deserves to be on a playoff contending team. He deserves an NBA Championship. Good Luck KG.

you don't think 31 years old is getting up there for an NBA player?

how many good players in the league are over 35?

at 31 years, he has about 12 years under his belt, and has maybe 3-4 left

maybe flat out "old" is too strong of a word for being 31 in the NBA, but I think "past his prime" would certainly be valid

No you're right, at 31 he is nearly past his prime, which is why I think the trade is kinda one of those all or none deals. They gave up some really good players for him. Like 5 guys and 2 first round picks.

Shit Ray Allen is 33 I believe and Paul Pierce is 30. Honestly in the eastern conference, if they get some good role players since their 56 mil of their cap goes to just those three, I see them in the finals atleast once. Thats way to much firepower to stop if they're healthy.

I agree that the celts are going to be a mean team for at least the next 3 years

they'll need to get it done soon though, and they seem to have the talent to do it if it talent plays well together

This reminds me of the pre-season when the Lakers went and got Mailman and the Glove. I told everyone to mail in the trophy. Man, was I wrong.

All the All-Star talent on one team, but only one rock to pass around. Peirce will suffer from this influx of me-first players.

The US Olympic basketball travesty and the international-laden Spurs & Mavs should be enough proof that you need team players, not superstars.

Ok Now we have Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and hopefully Kevin Garnett. Lets see all 3 at a minimum if no injuries occur have 3-4 good years left.

Last year Garnett had an amazing season stats.

Guess I'll be going to some Celtics games now that we will be winning.

I think you're off-base when it comes to KG. He's definitely not a "me-first" player. He spent the vast majority of his career being criticized for giving up the rock too much and not demanding the ball. I think he's a great addition to a team that already has talent in place. He can be a go-to guy, but is not one of those guys that has to touch the ball every time down the court. Watch and see how much better the guys around him become after playing with him for a while.....

Wow, all the closet sports fans coming out now. They came out when the patriots started winning back in 2000.

The Celtics will be an interesting team to watch if Pierce can stay healty. They have a nice group of youths that can learn alot from these veterans.

I am not a fan of basketball truthfully. I feel the sport has gotten boring and the finals suck since the Suns keep getting bullshit like this year.

But since I live so close to Boston watching a Celtrics game won't be a waste of my time anymore like it was last season.

And the Patriots are a whole other story. Everyone starts to love a team that wins 3 Superbowls in only a few years.

Can you guys say 4th superbowl this year?

You're absolutely right, a team full of all stars with no chemistry is a horrible team. KG brings alot more to the table then basketball though. He's a class act, leader, and contributor. He'll be missed here in MN.

i always liked the pats, even when they sucked. my uncle had season tix and would take me to a game or two every year when i was a young lad. i have stood by the pats through thick and thin.

Granted, As have many New Englander's. I was just replying to his comment of how many like the Pats now.

Which is true now you have people always talking about the Pats when it comes to football. It is either "they are so good" or "Brady is overrated they suck"

Either way the Pats have blown up recently. Rightfully so.

I actually like this combination. None of these guys seems to have a huge ego and demand the ball etc. Which is a good thing for chemistry but then who's going to be "The Man" when it comes down to it. I think it's a great trade for Boston as they are in the weak East and could make the finals. That being said I still think Minny would have gotten more and better players from the Lakers. Odom, Bynum, Kwame (expiring contract) and perhaps Farmar for Garnett. Plus that would have appeased Kobe.
