I live in a house, I have a yard and hedges. I do not mow lawn nor trim hedges.

You're pretty far south in FL, so I'm not surprised, I hear lawn care is oddly inexpensive and affordable down there, and done very efficiently.

I had a guy mowing my lawn until a few weeks ago. I paid him $50/wk to mow and blow. It amounted to $600 for the first half of the summer. I bought my mower from a friend for $600. I already had a backback leaf blower for drying my car and clearing the driveway of hickory nuts (those trees will be cut down this winter). It's a no brainer to do it myself. It takes me a half hour and it's very peaceful!

Damn, I pay $95/month, mow front and back weekly and trim hedges and palm trees once a month. I did the mowing myself when I first moved into the house and it was a pita. Would take me at least an hour or two to mow, edge and clean up. Plus in the summer I felt I was going to get a heat stroke or something out there.

How much property are we talking about? I don't think it's a secret that Florida is cheaper than the northeast...

Yard work is easy if you don't care how it looks too much... If you want it to look very good, then it can be a challenge. Weeds, fungus, animal damage, etc. I do my own yardwork.

Grass cutting depends on the type of grass you have too. Some grows a lot quicker than others, some is thicker as well. With some grasses, even during the growing season, you can go a few weeks without cutting. You might have seed stalks and if you're anal about seeing them sticking up from the grass then you'll need to cut, but that's personal opinion.

I won't get into too many details, but depending on location and type of grass, it can be easy or difficult. My back yard is huge, big enough to justify a riding mower probably, but I just use a regular mower. I don't cut it that often though. My front is cut more often. The type of grass requires more frequent cuts. I also prefer it to look better since people see it regularly.

That's not bad at all.

I had a couple yard guys back in MI. Juan, Jesus, Enrique, and Steve (bet you can't guess his ethnicity). Our whole lot used them and they would come out twice a month for lawn, bushes, and even edging along the sidewalk. Between the 8 of us we were each paying about $75 a month ($37.50 a house). I'd say each lot was only 3/4 of an acre though.
