The sennheiser cx-300II are the best bang for your buck. Much better than "stock" headphones you get from apple or whatever. Better than typical off the shelf sony, panasonic, skull candy, jvc etc.
Search up amazon for these and you wont regret it. No distortion, deep rich bass, clear vocals, comfy. I thought my sonys were good....

Consider these in the entry level premium headphone segment. Hmmmm sony = honda and sennheiser cx-300II = bmw 3 series

Aside from being open (allowing others to hear your music), the Koss KSC75's are really good, for $15 or so. They don't last that long, and you'll look like a tool wearing them, but the sound is massively better than other things in that price range.

Skull candies are pretty much known as garbage with muddy base. To each their own though.

I can't justify spending $75 on headphones. In my case its hard to keep headphones in good condition since they are used so frequently. How do you guys keep your headphones especially the smaller ones like the klipsch in good condition?

My problem with headphones is I keep losing them. I buy medium priced earbuds and keep nice cans to use at home. Can't beat the sound of cans IMO.

I have these two:

I also have Klipsch S4i's and love them. They pair nicely with my iPhone. The bass is surprisingly good for buds.

one bad review i hear about my klipsch is that the cord is flimsy and damages easy. you might want to look into those beats by dre. they look to have a flat cord, which sounds like a cool idea.

they were klipsch image s4's. great range all throughout. i was really pissed when i couldn't find them anymore. i bought some bose earbuds from the best buy vending machine in the airport and promptly returned them after they didn't even come close to stacking up. i have some bose qc15 headphones now for travel, but they weren't at all cheap.

i used mine quite a bit and they were pretty sturdy. don't cheap out on earbuds. if you can keep up with them, it's so worth it to get a great sounding pair vs. some crappy sounding, uncomfortable buds.

Thanks, I'll read up on them. Seems like they are readily available online though.

I just use the plain Klipsch Image s4. The i's are another 20 or so dollars for the volume buttons, which I dont need. They come in a little metal tin that I store them in when I toss them in my backpack. Been using them for about 5 months now and they're great. Despite the audiophile post a while back refusing to touch anything that is remotely mainstream, they are generally regarded as some of the best earbuds for under $100ish. My buddy picked up the Monster Turbines but I didn't think they were as good and the fit was pretty terrible.

Damn you guys ...damn you!

Reading through this thread once again reminded me of the injustice I am doing to my ears with the shitty $20 Sony ear buds and filled me with sorrow knowing that I will never ever be able to afford one of those +$400 pairs that every audiophile raves about. ....So, I had to order a Klipsch Image s4 though Amazon for $79 just a minute ago.

So, it better be all that you guys above have been raving about or I am going down OT with me one of these days

I'm going to give IEMs another chance. Searching for another IEM for gym use that's relatively affordable. Looking for a headphone with low microphonics though.

Microphonics - Finally, most in-ear-canal headphones suffer—to varying degrees—from microphonics , a phenomenon where, because the headphones seal so tightly against your ear canals, bumps and scrapes to the headphone cables are transferred up the cables directly to your ears.

Don't want fragile cables either. Dre Beats would be nice if they were cheaper because the cable doesn't get tangled. I demo'd my cousins. They are okay. Definitely overpriced IMO but comfortable. The base is too "bose" like IMO. Muddy, over-boosted and not as clear as it should be. I don't need the best headphones for the gym but I don't want to pay $150 for something that sounds like they cost $50-60 (which IMO they do).

Personally, for the gym, I'd say get some crappy wrap around ear headphones. The better ear buds seal tightly in your ear canal and sound like shit when they start to pull out. I dont like having to keep pushing them back in.

Oh Blake, looks like I might have found one, more than I want to spend for gym headphones though.
