Honda will launch new NSX: CEO

http://mdn.mainichi.jp/mdnnews/news/...na017000c.html

Quote:

Honda Motor Co. CEO Takanobu Ito has revealed the automaker's plans to resume development of a successor to the Honda NSX, also known as the Acura NSX, a sports car whose production was stopped in late 2005.The auto manufacturer halted development of the vehicle in fall of 2008 because of financial difficulties caused by the worldwide recession that followed the collapse of the Lehman Brothers company.

But on Feb. 4, Ito said Honda was ready to get development rolling again.
"I feel that we need to meet the calls from the public asking (for a successor)," Ito said. He didn't mention when the car might go on sale.

The NSX, which first went on the market in 1990, had a lightweight body made with aluminum and was known for its high acceleration performance. It grew increasingly difficult, however, to produce the car in accordance with gas mileage and gas emission standards abroad, and production ended in 2005. Since then, a race-car successor to the NSX, named the HSV, has been developed.

They've been saying that for years. I'll believe it when I see it.

Well they did call it off due to the recession ..and now they're getting back at it. It's not like they said they'll release it in 20XX and never did.

I like how the second gen car is coming almost 30 years after the original concept was initiated in 1984.

I bet this is because Lexus has a supercar. Honda want one as well so they can put stuff in their ads like "from the automakers of a supercar HSX", "technology straight from the track" etc.

^^^ 2 years? LOL, how about 5 minimum? 2 years is testing stage, they are still in development

I'd rather see an NSX in the price (and performance) range of a GT-R rather than an LF-A

2 years seems like a stretch. I'd like to see a street version of this car around 90k.

Honda already has a supercar. It's called the CR-Z.

Don't you watch commercials? Duh.
