Lol your advice is similar to my dad's, when I was single. At one point I was dating 3 hotties, and it was stressful. I messed up once and lost two at the same time. On topic - I am in a similar situation as the OP. I was with my SO who was a model (sorry had to throw that in there for context) for nearly a year and things started going sour for me. Too many differences in terms of lifestyle, background, future etc. Perhaps I was a bit too harsh but it was too much for me and I had to think of the future. I tried and I tried to overcome but it was one thing after another. We all have our issues but her's took the cake.

I called it off after a LOT of patience and thinking and reveling in the misery. I just felt it wasn't doing her or me any favours by going any further. The honeymoon period was over.

I cut complete contact with her. No number, no social networking, had no mutual friends, no pics or anything. Went cold turkey after we broke up.

It has been 5 months since we broke up and surprisingly once I called it off I was doing decent and holding up okay. She was likely going through a harder time.

But this last month it's like it all came back to me, all at once. The grief, loneliness, the reminiscing of the good times and the past and what we had and shared. We did love each other that much I know, and I find it hard to not think of her now when I'm not occupied with anything else. It's quite torturous really. She's from NYC and hell even anything to do with NYC comes up in the news or even a tv show (I'm in the financial industryso NYC is always at the forefront FUCK) makes me feel like sitting in a corner and shooting myself.

I caved recently and went on her Instagram and Facebook. Both are set to private but even seeing the cover pic/display picture of her was enough to make my insides turn. Needless to say my heartstrings are tugging even more.

I ask myself, how am I supposed to love someone else or spend my life with anyone else. Even the thought of another woman makes me sick.

I am blessed to have a lot of things in life. Sadly I'm not doing too well in the health and love/relationship department anymore.

Jump on a online dating site, not a good one, one that's free like POF. Worked for me when I got out of a 3 year relationship, dated a couple chicks and actually found my current GF on there. I mean there are some whores on there yes, but my GF ended up being highly educated and has a sick career, so you never know man. Enjoy the single life and just get out there.

Self improvement

Be honest about anything you could've done better in the relationship and improve those aspects of yourself. Improve the things you're already good at too...set goals...grow a six pack...learn to be smooth with women in order to gain the confidence that you'll be OK, and will be in the future, too. It's amazing how much confidence it gives to have a bunch of women chasing you...having your pic of who shares your bed that night. Date a lot of different types of women as an experiment

Basically, make yourself the kind of guy women fight over. Make it your goal to make your ex regret having left you. It's not as hard as you might think

I recommend buying a book called "Models" by mark manson. Changed my life after a bad break up. "Sex at Dawn" is also great for understanding human sexual dynamics.

Also, beating off too much reduces your sexual ambition

One more thing: if you're extradorinarily broken up, talk to a therapist. I think everyone should at some point.

Not all of us want to be womanizers though. Self improvement is key of course but I find that everyone keeps pointing out the "get more tail, and get the tail to chase you" line far too often.

I guess I'm a conservative and laid back type of guy who wants stability along with trust and commitment. Having similar values and beliefs is a must as well.
