It's a form of respect. There are beautiful, impressive cemeteries in New Orleans with huge statues and structures that are built above ground. Mostly of religious nature.
This seems to be a sort of modern interpretation; however, the concept is the same one. I think it's cool. Then again, I hail from the motherland, so my opinion likely doesn't count, haha. |

Two thoughts:
1. That M3 tombstone is in England and IS made of granite, despite what the author claims 2. Walking around a Russian cemetery at night has to be terrifying with all of the full sized, detailed etchings of people. |
