300 was based on Frank Miller's comic book of the same name. In fact, Miller openly admits to his use of poetic license in the book, and that certain aspects of the story were simply made up by him. Since there was no attempt to make it historically accurate, exactly why a newspaper would analyze this is beyond me.

I read Hot Gates "The battle of Thermopolae" becuase I loved 300. Great book. More historically accurate than 300. But who cares, I thought 300 was very entertaining
