Good review, in fact a fair review.

Looks are subjective, I like it but I understand the criticism.

The engine sounds fantastic on my crappy speakers.

Unfortunately it is a pig and the M3/4 does the job better.

I wish the m3/4 had an NA engine, it would of made my life a lot easier.

Ah well, I'll keep my s65 a bit longer.

Best review on the car yet.
man, the car sounds amazing. I just heard the howl of that v8 the whole time. lol

and come on, lets be honest here, how many people will be taking a rc-f to the track? yes this thing weighs a lot, but i bet 95% of the people who end up buying this car won't even touch the track so the weight doesn't really matter to a majority of the people.

One of my close friends just ordered one. It was between this and an M4 for a daily beater...that was until he heard the M3/4's exhaust note.

We were invited to go see one in person and it looks stunning, inside and out.

you mean the fake stuff where they pump the sound through the speakers instead of the actual exhaust? lol

For daily, I have a feeling the next C63 is going to be hard to beat. Even as it is now. I would rather have the current RS5 than the RC-F. At least at it's weight, you get awd. Plus a proper dual clutch transmission. Also think it is a much more attractive car, but that is subjective.

Huge fan of the looks, engine, interior etc... As far as performance goes, it seems as though Lexus is a generation behind the leaders which is what I think will hurt them.

M4 vs. Cayman GTS, Porsche is the way to go.

Proper DCT that breaks-down when stuck in a jam?

A real disappointment for Lexus when they are specifically trying to compete against the M3/M4, RS5, and C63. I wonder how many RC-F owners will have the balls to take on an M3 or M4 on the highway or at a traffic light.

The 0-60 stat itself only impresses 4th graders huddled around a car magazine. The only people who care about it are ones who drive slow cars. Do you see how everyone gets their jollies off 0-60 times here? Go to a Corvette, GTR, Supra, or any forum with fast cars and tell me if you see one mention of any schmuck asking how an exhaust system will effect his 0-60.

That said...no ones buying an RC-F because of its speed. It's not fast, but neither is an M3/4.

I drove a single turbo Supra for years, and we replaced talking about 0-60 times with how fast the car was "from a roll".

Yep. If we're even focusing on something as limited as acceleration from a dig, might as well use something more relevant like 1/4 plus traps. But who does races from a dig outside of your local drag strip? In gear acceleration is far more relevant.

Light to light perhaps.

I think that's a far less common scenario than doing a rolling "race" with a buddy or someone you find on the road.

The only people who race "light to light" are ghetto 17 year-olds from Oakland and backwoods rednecks. Or people with slow cars.

No one with a fast car races from a dig anymore. Foremost, to find a road where you can both safely come to stop for some time and also race to a meaningful speed (160+) is near impossible. You're not even able to stretch a car's legs in dig racing unless you are willing to approach those speeds...1st and 2nd gear are meaningless, tell you nothing about how fast a car accelerates and aren't for WOT use. Launching from a stop also presents dangers which make it unsafe for two cars to do so next to each other. This is mitigated by driver skill, but everyone with a fast car has spun out trying to go straight at least once or twice.

^^ ok grandpa

Not surprised the lexus crowd doesn't understand what makes a great sports car. This car will see more mall parking lots than twisty roads, because hey, that shits dangerous!

I don't think anyone here is part of the "Lexus crowd," nor is anyone arguing what makes a good sports car. Was that really your take away? The RC-F is a nice, comfortable, stylish beater car. Anyone comparing this car to an M3/4 on the basis of performance is an idiot because performance for both cars is secondary. If someone wants a performance car, they have no business in either a BMW or Lexus dealership.

And Grandpa? I can bet that I am indeed older than you, but also am more capable of gauging risk. Perhaps you're the type who drag races at every intersection, but thankfully that doesn't happen in my part of town. You must live in the East Bay. I'm sure you think it's cool seeing burnout marks on the roads around your house and hearing sideshows until 4am. Those speedbumps on 7th quelled that, however...

Not really concerned about the 0-60. More concerned about the comments on the size/weight, dodgy brakes, and so-so steering. I think you just have to be a Lexus fan to look past those things. They were close to stealing some buyers from other brands. Maybe next generation, this car definitely didn't live up to the hype. It is even getting some hate on the Lexus forums, there is a long thread about people cancelling their orders.
