2014 Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix

Our thoughts and prayers with Jules and his family. Wish him a speedy recovery and see him back in racing soon!!!

Generally love back to back weekends, but I wonder how does the current typhoon mayham impacts Formula 1 exodus from Japan and hauling everything to Russia in such a short time.

New track at Sochi surrounds the new Winter Olympics is quite reminiscent to the Korean GP in Mokpo. Although it looked decent, but its based on "street circuit" concept. Several corners even looked alike the Korean GP.

Although no DRS information at the moment, but most likely will be the pit straight before Turn 2, and possibly the bend-straight before Turn 13.

Btw, I believe Kimi will love this place. Russia got vodka everywhere!!!

Given the current sanctions against Russia it is outrageous IMHO that this race is being allowed to proceed. The FIA and Bernie should be ashamed of themselves.

Let's put politics on the side. Race and sport should not be influenced by politics.
Russians just held winter olympics, I do not see why not Formula 1. In terms of capability and location.

Formula 1 didn't cancel Bahrain GP. The only year it did was because of safety concern, not political views.

That was quick! Glad the equipments left Nagoya Centerair safely!

Some containers were shipped months ahead from HQs, as their logistic planning.

My thoughts exactly, hey let's make every turn a 90 degree corner. Track has no flow. I'm sure it would have looked better if he was driving an M4/5/6.

Always nice to see a new track in the schedule. Best of the rest? RB and Ferrari perhaps given the not as dominant top requirement of this track.

Formula 1 didn't cancel Bahrain GP. The only year it did was because of safety concern, not political views.

You might want to remember that prior to the Olympics, the Russians had not invaded a sovereign European country, (Ukraine); annexed Crimea, and shot down a commercial airliner. There are now large economic sanctions against Russia in force not just by the U.S. but also the EU.

This is all about money as far as Bernie is concerned. He cares nothing about "sport being above politics".

And to our Canadian friends, I personally am appalled at some of the bonehead moves that the U.S. and UK have done in the last 10 years or so.

Russia's transgressions are trivial compared to what the US has done, so maybe there should be sanctions on the US and the US GP should be canceled

I'm not arguing what they've done here. This is "Professional Motor racing Discussion" Section.

I'm not going to put too much hope on "exiting race" this weekend. Normally street circuits are normal to be a relatively boring compare classic tracks.

What worries me are most drivers/team are using almost all their allocated power unit components. We might starting to see 10 place grid penalties here and there in the next four races.
