Question The Ring

I have heard that if you travel to the Nurnberg Ring, and pay an admission fee, you can take a lap. Is this true? If so, is there a web site for the Ring? I was hoping some of the Europeans on this forum might know.

Ah, it's Nürburg, not Nürnberg! (Don't want you going the wrong way):

Step one in planning your route to the Ring is to tell the difference between Nürburg and Nürnberg (Nuremberg). More than one person has ended up in totally the wrong region of Germany thanks to that pesky 'n'. You are not going to the place where the war crimes trials were heard, you are going to the place where people spend all their time going round and round in circles at high speed. :-)
Check out this site, it has everything you need to know and more:

It might be best to wait until it warms up (maybe March or April) because of all the snow. You don't want to do what I did and drive all the way there only to find that the track is closed.

Luckily it wasn't a complete waste of time. I planned it as part of a bigger trip and was going past it anyway. But it was still a disappointment.

I've driven 8 laps around the Nordschleife on the 19th of october last year with my E90.

If you're in the area visit the Ring. It's the centre of the world for car/racing enthousiasts.
Take a look at the 'danger' triangles, Schwedenkreuz is a tough part(210/215kmh with my car , 130mph)

Oh yeah for sure. I need to wait until I can take off the snow tires anyway. Thanks for the Link. I can't wait.

You can also hit the Hockenheim Ring, it's right outside of Heidelberg.

What's your best time in a stock '06 330i? M5 is way too much power for me to control there, I can't keep the car's suspension loaded with the undulations, and wind up going off-course...

I haven't tried the Ring with a 330i yet. I HAVE done it in under 7 minutes in the Grand Turismo F1 car though.

You know, it just might be treu as well in Nürnberg, but it won't involve your car.

I seen this TV show about a female professional driver that took a minivan around it trying to beat the time of 10 min I think. I wouldn't mind going on it myself and taking the E-90 around all of the corners and speeding insanely!

Forget driving the ring yourself...... you have to take the Nürnbergring Taxi:
You have to get tickets a year in advance....but its well worth it
