Would there be any welding needed to install this?

Yes, needs to be spot-welded in place.

A quick google search provided me the answer of preventing oil starvation and an alternative to a dry sump (which is more expensive and offered for M3s).

It should also limit the frothing effect from the crankshaft lobes splashing constantly the oil. There will be less bubbles in the oil pump pick-up area.

. I am not trying to lose another engine, this will add some piece of mind. Great job VAC looks promising. Any ballpark of the price this will carry?

Vac seems to really be making all of the "other stuff" we need.

What else is in store for the future Vac? Do you sell replacement heads or is it a send in and return deal? sorry, my computer/net over here limits what i can see... I cant even see the pics above.

Yes the Xi pan is different and requires about 10-12 hours to remove and refit. I don't think there will be much of a market for an Xi pan baffle.

Have you had a chance to check it against the N55 pickup? I think the pans are the same, but the pickup is a bit slimmer on the N55, making it a slam dunk.

Great work VAC. Looking forward to seeing the final price of this - I'm definitely interested.

Agree that VAC is a terrific outfit, but feel obligated to point out the JamesM3M5 at RRT Racing in Sterling, VA fabricated two prototypes: one for VAC and the other for my 1M.

RRT is a VAC dealer and long term respected partner. When I post an official thread (soon) there will be more info.
