u have got to c this shit

long story short,my cousin gave me a staff infection.he just started tattooing not too long ago and ive seen some pretty good work but for some reason this came out like shit, and to top it off i got a staff infection,im in the process of covering it up now.this is how it went down.we started the ink, then he got a staff infection, then his healed and while me tattoo is still healing i get one .i had to go to the doctor and get it lanced opened and drained it was almost a full 2inches deep.and hurt like hell.avoid these at all cost oh ya they dont just sew u back up with stitches.this has to heal from the inside out.(open wound)and i had to pull the 8 inch strip of gauze out of it on the third day

I was wondering something similar. How many others that he colored got staff? That sucks, 1sic06e90.

Glad it's working out now though. You mentioned getting it covered up.. Do you mean that the art got so messed up you had to add to the design, or make something else out of it?

Wound care

Staph infections are nasty. Your wound looks nice and clean at this point as far as I can tell from the picture. Looks like your doc did a good job. I would keep it covered with some sort of sterile gel...it doesn't have to be antibiotic. Don't use alcohol or betadyne on it because that will be harmful to the regrowth of tissue.

Your cousin needs to learn about aseptic technique and instrument sterilization and also make sure he's not a carrier.

I assume your tetanus status is up to date.

Best of luck to you.

nothing, just joking with you. I never understood the attraction of tattoos though our taste in cars is obviously very similar.

i got a gnarly staph infection last year in my leg after my knee surgery. i was in the hospital on antibiotics for a week and then i was on IV antibiotics for 2 weeks at home...got lucky couldve lost my leg if it got into the bone. i feel ya on the open wound after the surgery he packed it and when he was pulling the gauze out it hurt like hell!!! and i had to change the packing everyday at home and i was getting weak to my stomach.

My ex's orange tabby cat had a staph infection on its head. We had to pack it too. Silly cat wasn't even tattooed.

You're right. Abscesses (closed pockets of puss) need to be incised, drained, and left to heal from the inside out. Otherwise, closing it leaves an empty cavity that can become abscessed again.
