Question Oil Change On Toyota & Acura Question

for my daily commuter car (toyota corolla 02) i look under about to do an oil change and i see the oil filter. now my question is if i remove the oil filter, thats where the oil comes out right b/c unlike bmw with oil filter in the engine and a drain plug at the bottom, i just have to remove the oil filter and voila? same applies for acura rdx which when i checked has the oil filter at bottom as well.

thanks.

i think you would have to take out the drain plug first then remove the oil filter.

sure, you can remove the filter w/o draining the oil first. It'll just make ONE HELL OF A BIG MESS! You also won't get all the oil out. There's oil in the pan that sits below the level of the filter.
