off to college, S2000 time?
i love my 1er but unfortunately so does my mom. Considering my parents paid for the car should i plead my case and try to keep my baby or let her sell her 550i m sport and take my finally finished project from me and probably immediately curb the wheels? Im going to school next year in dallas and i live in San Diego so i think i want a more reliable car thats also fun and small...and pretty affordable. Im leaning towards the s2000, ive always loved jdm even though ive had 3 euros.
modded s2000 to beat around or take my perfect 1er to the lone star state and park it in a parking garage 75 percent of the time what do you think i should do?

If it's in a parking garage most of the time I wouldn't be too worried about reliability. Besides, they bought the car for you to have, do they really expect you to give it back when you go to school? I too have entertained the thought of getting an S2000...but it would be way too difficult to leave all of the creature comforts my 3er has behind.

I'm either going to tcu or smu I've been accepted to both. I'm not worried about having my car make me fit in, the car is for me to enjoy and have fun with not just use as a status symbol (smu)

I almost got a S2k in college, but I just thought about having to move stuff in and out of my room and around campus or whatever and decided against it. Of course, my Mustang vert wasn't much better, but at least I had a back seat to throw stuff in.
And don't let the garage fool you. My stang got broken into twice while parked in a garage with coded gates and full surveilance. |

If it's an AT then I might understand, mine is too and I can't wait to get a 6 speed. S2K is going to have a lot less power than the 1er but might be more fun to drive regardless.

S2000 is not comfortable coming from a 1-series. Also make sure to buy a hardtop because someone will slash your top and steal your seats. Other than that they are very fun and reliable.

I honestly think if you go from the 1er to a honda, you won't be very satisfied. Just me.

It has some amazing looking women. It is a fun ass school, get ready to party if you go there. Oh and get a car that has more than two seats. Got to be able to cram some people in there. |

its an AT 128i so the s2000 will actually be MORE power...and yeah the prospect of having my bimmer broken into sounds shitty...hence the honda.
keep em comin

If you are going to SMU I would not recommend bringing a car freshman year. I went to SMU, parents wouldn't let me take my car freshman year and I was very glad they didn't. You will learn a lot freshman year, and plenty of your friends will have cars. Wait until sophomore year and then take a car. If your at either SMU or TCU you won't really need a car as most of the social scene revolves around or close to campus. Many guys I know that brought a car freshman year, it was trashed be it letting their friends drive it all over, or joining a fraternity and the actives destroying it during pledge ship.
For the record there are plenty of pretty sweet cars at SMU. A lot of m3s, yellow lamborghini superlegga driven by a middle eastern looking young lady, porsche turbos, cayennes, etc. Half the girls drive range rovers. Comparing SMU and TCU, they are similar schools. Dallas is a bigger town, while Ft. Worth is a little more laid back. I would say SMU is a little more vain, most dudes at TCU drive pickup trucks. I loved SMU, but you can't go wrong with either. |
