Sell M6 and pick up Gallardo? Opinions

Bought the M6 new, put 46,000 great miles on it but I want something different. Thinking about trading it in on a 06 Gallardo. What do you guys thinking?

Got the $$$ for it? Do it. You only live once. Hell, go buy an Aventador.

This isn't really a lot of information to work with. If you're looking at a particular Gallardo, what are its vitals? Why are you giving up the M6? What are your priorities in your cars? What do your finances look like? I also would bet that few people on these boards have driven a Gallardo and thus might not be in a position to give impressions other than "That's an awesome car, go for it!"

I guess...if you like VWs. Personally Id rather get an R8...pretty much the same car but a lot classier. Guys in Gallardos are compensating for something...guys in R8s seem to be actual car guys that CAN drive.

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

I never drove an M6 or a reg Gallardo but I did drive a 570 Superleggera and that car kicks major ass. Depending on where you live it could be too much for the street in regards to it being fun. On the track it is the most fun you can have besides possibly a Balboni or 458 Italia if you perfer flappy paddle gearboxes

As good as Gallardo, an R8 might make more financial sense.

A few things to think about with true exotic car ownership.

1. Servicing. Do you live near a Lambo dealer or someone who can really service this car. If not, servicing may be a real PITA.

2. Parts. Again, if you need parts, it could be a significant wait at times. Are you the kind of person who has patience for this, or not?

3. Cost of ownership. Be sure you are prepared for the cost of parts, labor, and insurance. Even if you can afford it in an absolute sense, is it worth the money?

4. How much are you going to drive it? Most cars in this class are pure toys and spend a lot of time resting in garages. As such, they require very little actual maintenance. Is this going to be case or not?

Anyway...all just things to think about. If I was in your boat, I would likely go a Porsche 911 turbo S. Mind blowing performance, plus all the class and refinement, and it won't be a total PITA to actually own.

Are gallardos DD material? I'd love to own one if I could, but I'd be worried about it breaking on me. I haven't seen any high mileage ones. Thoughts?

I agree w/ others, a R8 would be cool, but get the v10 one, not the v8

Gallardo interior feels like an Audi. I can afford it but never gonna get one. I would rather get an R8 or SL63

If the Gallardo interior feels like an Audi and you don't like that, why would you buy an R8, or an SL which is just a glorified boulevard driver?

To the OP. buy the Gallardo or to be different an '09 or newer A.M. V8.

if you can afford it (the car, service etc)... and aren't too far from a dealership then go for it.

My buddy has a gallardo and murcielago (don't ask me why he has both, cause i still don't know why lol) and each car has gone in for services at least twice each in the past few months that he's owned them.
