No silly season for 2011

This week both Webber and Massa signed contract extensions with RBR and Ferrari... (1 year for Webber, 2 years for Massa)

Highly doubt Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton, button or Rosberg are going anywhere so unless Schumi re-retires and calls quits on his F1 return, it looks like it will be status quo among the top 4 teams, which also means that Kubica will remain at Renault, and Raikonnen won't be back....

Ah well, I was really hoping Webber would get canned and replaced by Kubica or Raikonnen or even Sutil.

I also share this sentiment.

Ditto, but I think Kubica (my favorite driver) is very happy with Renault. He's their #1 driver and he seems to be getting along very well with the team and the car is pretty competitive.

Webber will be champion this year and next.

Kubica will just turn out to be another great driver on a 2nd rate team.

Schumi will slowly come up and give Webber some competition and perhaps take it the 3rd season.

Some drivers are just NOT champions, no matter how good they are, no matter how fast they are, no matter what team they drive for... no matter how close they come...
They are just NOT champions and will never be champions....
Massa and Webber, fit the bill

Hamilton, Webber, Massa, Button, Alonso, Vettel, Rosberg and Schumi aren't moving.
You can't just single out that error.
There were tons of them that year for many teams.

That's what I am saying... He came very close, and he would have been a worthy champion, but that is as close as he will ever come... Sucks for him for sure... But he won't get another chance or ever be anywhere near a WDC

Have plenty garbage bags of the stuff for free. Just trying to wake up the thread. Got 1 bite.

Webber is still my pick. Strategy and Politics screwed him on the last 2 Sundays.

So, are you saying you hold the opinion Webber will be WDC for 2 years solely to cause controversy on this forum? You must be bored.

Anyways, I'll bite. Webber won't be WDC, not even once. He races stiff, and it'll bite him just like it did in Turkey. Red Bulls reign will end soon, and not short enough it was. (Though I do like Vettel.)

What is your opinion of Jenson's performance @Melbourne? His call to change out for slicks 2 laps earlier than the rest of the grid is what won him the race.

He is a consistent driver and thats what got him the championship along with having the car he had. I must admit that was a good call on Melbourne.

For the record, I like Vettel. What I don't like is what he did to Webber, Kubica (BMW), etc. If Weber & Rebull construct don't win the title, it will come down to what a selfish Vettel has done and Redbull politics.

Webber all the way. Red Bull with Vodka anyone?

Mercedes is just toast for breakfast.

I think you might be mixing selfishness with competitiveness a little bit too much.

Anyways, take a look at this article. I can easily see how RBR might have been trying an indirect team order. If so, (no matter how illegal against the league) then it would be nearly 100% Webbers fault from Red Bull's perspective. Though, the article does go on to display Horner completely opposing the removal of the team order ban, I could see them having general strategies to give their teammate a pass opportunity.

Competitiveness is like when Alonso sneak past Masa into the pits (without crashing). Selfishness is when you take out your teammate. Weber held his (competitive) line and was ahead, there was no need to crash into Weber. Vettel is incompetent. All Vettel has to do, is take Weber on the next straight. Vettel is just another David Coulthard or Takumo Sato? I'll give Vettel another chance.

RBRs perspective, inclusive of team orders, would be to pass Weber on the next straight while Weber holds his line, easily skirting team order rules.

Thanks for the article.
