To have a real straight line performance advantage, you need to go beyond the 330 all the way to the 335. 328i 0-60 in 6.4 http://www.edmunds.com/bmw/3series/2008/testdrive.html accord v6 0-60 in 5.9 http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=6030 Quality and comfort wise, the top end accord models are very well positioned. Accord EX will have a standard interior feature set that exceeds BMW's features (you have to get a fully loaded 3 to match, if marginally exceed I guess, by an odd option of two.). Accord build quality is very high, it has the same 'doesn't budge' feel when you push/pull on any item in the cabin. All panels are sharply aligned, no flimsy materials, no loose fits, sharply styled and executed dash/controls. __All for many thousands less__. So I would say the accord competes pretty well, especially if you are willing to forgo the BMW love/appeal and just inspect each car in a preference-free manner. Where the accord doesn't compete is : 1) Does not have an exceptionally desirable brand name 2) Does not have the sexiness (if any, since many people hate the accord look) 3) Does not have an RWD / AWD option for those who prefer spirited driving. -scheherazade p.s. my funny chat. "Is that new" "Ya" "How much was it?" "44" "Fully Loaded?" "No" (fyi : coupe + XI + sport package + USB/Ipod) "Awesome, I'll buy one tomorrow" Donno about the police spec, but charger srt8, redline, flat surface, top speed over 170. The believe the police versions are just the srt8 with radios? Last edited by scheherazade; 12-05-2008 at 08:23 PM.. |

600 awhp on an evo should be under 3 seconds. I have personally met people that dyno in that area. edit : It's not that expensive either. I know a guy that has 520 awhp and spent around 5 grand. 15k would be some sort of overkill. I have no idea what he meant by N52... why put a bmw engine in an evo when it already comes with a closed deck iron block that is proven to handle over 1000 awhp. |

I can assure anyone that a new Accord is in no way close to a 330i. I used to have one.
Now my wife drives an 08 Accord Coupe.... even she says the Accord seems "cheap". Coming from her, that means a lot. |

The Accord is no where near a 3 series! I had a 03 Accord coupe V6 6mt, and it was a POS. The quality is bad. The bumper paint does not match the body. Take a look at some Accords, new or old, on the street and you'll see what I mean. The Accord, like the Acura TL, has a nice looking interior but the material quality is terrible. Most of the trim are misaligned. The leather seat doesn't even feel like leather. Feels more like pleather. And than you have the drooping headliner. A lot of owners could not get it to stay up. I could go on. It was the worst car I ever owned.

So I get my 335i and my work mate wants to take a look.
He sits in the driver seat and the seat belt extender comes out. He turns quickly and says 'wtf'. I say 'now say thanks' to him and he turns his head again towards the extender and says 'thanks'...lol I think he thought he was in Knight rider. |

after parking my car at a local mall, i get out of car and lock it.
as i am walking away, i hear "excuse me". so i look back and theres two young blondes (stereotypical abercrombie girls), one was 18ish and the other couldnt have been more than 20ish. not really sure if they were even talking to me, i stopped and made eye contact with them. them: nice car. me: ummm thanks. them: so what color is that? i say its blue but she thinks its purple. me: (still taken back by the whole situation) its called sparkling graphite, its basically like a shiny gray with hints of blue and purple. them: that is soooooo not gray. so whos right? me: (trying to be polite but still honest) its called graphite. them: so whos right? me: ummm i guess neither of you then. them: well whos more right? me: (so i played along) i guess both of you are equally right then. them: it is soooooo more purple than blue. they disagree and argue with one another for a bit, while i laugh to myself at the entire situation. finally one of them says to me: if you say it is more purple than blue, you can take me home. me: in that case, it is more purple. (i smile at that girl) then they start giggling and laughing to themselves and walk away. i stood there dumbfounded with a huge shit-eating grin. |

Mine are kind of weird: "The wood looks fake." "Is this real leather?" "Why do you buy premium [gas]?" but my favorite is taking my co-workers to lunch (most are in their 40's/50's and drive civics and corollas): car: VROOM (6K rpm) passengers: *complete silence* |

I was fillng up with gas and some billy told me my tailpipe was fat enought for him to put his dong in. I told him I'm very jealous, then stuffed my hog into the tailpipe just to claim ownership / mark my territory.

Not really a funny story, per se, but I had a gentleman approach me at a Shell station while getting gas. He was driving an Audi A6 2.8, and we chatted about what model, the specs, 0-60 times (at which point his eyes kind of when I replied "around 4.8 seconds"), etc. The gentleman then asked if I got a custom exhaust, noting the dual pipes. I told him they were stock, and he said he's never seen BMWs with split pipes except on M models.
We parted ways shortly afterwards, but it was nice to have a chat with someone who actually knows a little bit about these cars and can appreciate fine automobiles. Oh, I too have gotten a couple "Is that a 5-series?" comments before, even though the badge clearly states 335xi. I guess I can't blame them too much, since the little 3er has grown significantly, but then again, so has everything else.
