E91 Pano roof problems

Hey guys new to the forum here,

Awhile back i bought a 06 325xi touring that needs a bit of TLC. Now with all the Covid stuff going on what better time to start my build Thread.

Step 1.
Fix this darn Pano roof

My roof (like almost every other) Failed so the rear stopped moving by itself. I left it for a while, bought the car in winter didn't bother me at the time but now that its summer the car gets really hot and without the vent mode its a real pain.

Now the REAL problem arises when you search for a guide on how to do said job. I have purchased a rebuild kit from ECS ES#2145031 and i figured i would make a post so others maybe can follow what i have done or chime in if you have done this as well. Will post pics later

I have the same issue, and I couldn't find any diy.

There's one video on youtube.

But a guy here did the job, and what I understand, those long plastic part fail, and roof wont move.

200-300$ in parts and 4/5 hours job.

Mine will stay like so lol (winter beater)

Also, have you make sure is not simply a ''reset procedure'' you need to ?

So this is the Kit from ECS Tuning Just came in (super fast shipping time) always great to deal with them now it just comes down to finding the time to rip the whole interior apart to get the the headliner

Do you really need rear half of the glass to be vented / operational?

That is such a fail prone design unless you are on tip-toe to maintaining it.. (Some are lucky to have trouble free pano roof but many are having jamming issues)

There is a two-part youtube video that walks you through on how to disable the rear half of the sunroof.

Yes, it involves some mechanical modification on the roof rail itself but is fairly straight forward, ~30 minute fix that gives you a peace of mind to open up the front glass whenever you would like without worrying "is the rear gonna jam up again!?"

But let us know how the fix goes, good luck.

Yea that is true I did see that video and I completely agree with not needing the vent mode but tbh I have OCD when it comes to things working as they should on my car lol it's been raining a lot in my area so I haven't been able to actually go through and fix but hopefully this weekend I should be able to make the post cheers
