Pagani Huayra officially coming to the U.S.

Quote:
Italian specialty car maker Pagani has officially announced that the Huayra supercar will be headed to the United States later this year.

The automaker said in a statement that it will begin setting up a dealer network in the U.S. in the coming months.

"This automobile is the result of five years of dedicated effort from the Pagani team and we see this [U.S. market entry] as an unprecedented opportunity to continue expanding our vision of the future for the supercar industry," said Horatio Pagani in a press release announcing the move.

This will be the first time Pagani enters the U.S. market as its previous Zonda model was not sold there.

The current Huayra was built to meet U.S. safety regulations.

The Huayra comes with an AMG-sourced 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine doling out 700 bhp (522 kW / 710 PS) and 1000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. That power plant is coupled to an XTRAC seven-speed sequential transmission of just 96 kg (212 lbs) mounted transversely behind the engine. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes 3.3 seconds and top speed is 370 km/h (230 mph).

Pricing for the Huayra is expected to start at around $1,368,800 (€1,000,000 / £867,030).

This wont be the first pagani in the US what are they talking about. Wyclef has had a Zonda S for years. He drove it on an episode of Funk Master Flex's car show on MTV years ago. If you got the money you can get one over here, and get it licensed in certain states that have less strict emissions, but you have to promise not to drive it more than a certain amount of miles a year since they didnt crash test them and can not be certified as "road Legal" car but it is registered as a show car I guess which fit different standard. Or maybe it is in the Experimental car catagory, I forget.

I guess this one will be the first cert road legal in all 50 states though. I would hate to see the crash test videos though. That would pain me. Like watching a baby seal get clubbed to death. Just awful.

Although I have to asay I dont like this new one as much as the last body style. They are coming out with a few more models of the current Zonda platform before releasing this one. One called the "750" will be the very last one I guess.

I saw that episode with Clef years back. That episode was filmed in Hati and not the U.S.

The Pagani Zonda was never officially imported or sold in the US. If they were brought in, then the owners themselves brought them over, not Pagani. The Zonda didnt meet US crash test/emission regulations, nor did Pagani bother trying to.
