Anyone using Vonage Voip?

Post your feedback. This will be my 2nd Voip line and was wondering if there were any issues with Vonage for home use.

911 is their own central 911 that dispatch the call to your local real 911. unless they chnge it.
I didnt like that...
but went cable-phone instead
but has great features, like you can have an area code of another state.

not true

I've been using vonage for I believe about as long as they've been around. Currently when you dial 911 (at least in my area) your call is routed directly to your nearest 911 response center. You have to sign in to your account and give them your address for 911 services. When you dial 911 this information is then used to route your call.

as for the general quality of the phone service, I love it.

forget about trying to call them for customer service, but this is true of almost any voip company. trying calling broadvoice for example

I have LINGO cause we call Europe alot..I pay $19.99 a month, I was paying over $100 a month with Long Distance..and I get copies of the voicemails as well..I think it's great....only downside is that if the network is down so is your phone but it's rare so the downtime is worth it..quality is the same as analog phones...jump in now before everyone starts and then they raise the prices...

thats exactly what was explained to me, your call is not direct to 911, but redirected. The thought of having a middle layer tells me there can be a point of failure or delay. unlike getting to 911 centers directly.

we are talking about the same thing here.

I have been using Vonage for both of my residences. I have been very impressed with the service. I haven't actually used 911, but when I registered for the service I gave them the address, which is used to direct the call to the nearest center.

In the rare instance that my internet service goes out, it is set to route all calls to my cell phone. I like the fact that I get an email whever someone leaves a voicemail message (which I can also check online).

I forgot to mention the autodial feature. You can highlight a telephone number from the internet, Outlook, etc. and have the number dialed from the computer. After you send the command, your phone will ring. When you pick up the phone, you will be connected.

What really made me switch to Vonage was all of the ridiculous fees that get tacked on to a normal phone bill. By the time all the taxes and random fees are added, its at least 30-40% higher than the original plan you signed up for.

I've used it for a 9 months and any issues I've had have been ISP related. I've got no complaints about the service. Good voice quality, lots of features and the price is great.

Great price, great features. Service has been fine too. I've been a customer since last year, and have had no reason to consider anything else.

When we first signed up they had this offer going where they would pay for our first month. Little did we know they were going to screw us over in other ways. It took them 1 1/2 months to transfer our number when they said that it would only take 2 weeks. I tried calling them to see what was going and was on the phone with 10 different people for over 3 hours only to be given a number which led me to some kind of gas station. I wa spissed as hell. A second call sent me to Africa where after arguing with the guy for an hour I finally cancelled my account with them and switched back to AT&T - never again.....
