2007 335i Engine Vibration / Sound 1.5k - 3k RPM
Hello everyone,
First post here but not my first problem with this car. I have 170,000 somewhat reliable miles on my 335i. I'm currently running into an increase in sound / vibration around 1.5k - 3k RPM. It is not related to speed (however does present itself during through those RPMs in any given gear) and only occurs once the vehicle is warmed up. The engine idles and feels incredibly smooth while cold and even when almost warmed up. The old turbos were replaced due to the infamous 30FF codes, no power and bad wastegates. The vibration has been present for some time but has continued to worsen. The turbos are new as of yesterday, new vacuum lines, boost solenoids, spark plugs, (fairly) new coils and many other maintenance items have been replaced. Open for all ideas except selling it because it's too late for that, mistakes have been made. -Cody |

If it is a manual transmission, then it could be the dual-mass flywheel is broken.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Here's a video.
The sound can be heard from the start (0 mph releasing the clutch). I wasn't able to clearly reproduce any audible vibrations from revving or during driving. |

It has gotten worse.... Here's another video! Let me know what you all think... I've already scheduled an appointment to get a new flywheel and clutch (no idea when all that was replaced with the previous owner(s).)
This is sitting at a light with some very light revving. The engine idles absolutely flawlessly so I don't think (or hope) it isn't an engine problem... |

I know everybody here has been wondering if my problem has been fixed....
It has! My dual mass flywheel, clutch, guibo, rear main seal (for good measures) have been replaced and the car feels like new! If you're experiencing a problem similar to to the videos, flywheel may be the answer. |
