Audi TT 2.0 T Coupe...thoughts?

So I am graduating college soon and ready to get rid of my old Accord and am thinking about a 2008 Audi TT 2.0 T Coupe. I know you must be thinking...what is she doing on the e90 forum??? Well, I'm a BMW fan too and my bf just got a 328i a couple of months ago. Thing is, hes already got the BMW and I would like to have too different hot cars to ride in if possible

So basically, my criteria are 30-35K sports coupe. Without spelling out all of my other priorties... what do you guys think of the Audi in this class? I've read some comparisons and am not impressed, so I thought i would ask some car rating professionals (you guys).

June Car and Driver. "Four of a kind" comparo. 35,000 group.
1st Mazda RX-8
2nd Audi TT.
Check it out if you have not already. I like the original body better, but the new car has some improvements. Just seems like too much money for what you get, to me. G/L.

Don't forget that Audi's have crappy resale values. So in 3-5 years you are going to still be backwards on the car if you go to sell it.

I think the new Audi TT looks fantastic and handles a lot better than the old one. The interior is quite nice and roomy for a small car. The FWD version is actually lighter and is more toss-able (more fun) than its quattro counterpart.

I would suggest go give it a test-drive and see how it goes. I was looking for a small coupe/convertable myself - and the new 2.0 TT was in the list (including the 350z, Z4, Miata, S2000). However, I ended up choosing the Honda S2000. No regrets!

I really liked the S-Line package on the TT (see image)

I had an '01 TT, and I loved the car. The new one is supposedly much improved in every aspect. It does seem like it's not a lot of car for the money, but there's something about the styling and feel of the TT that makes it very special (at least the old one). It would be a tough choice for me between the TT and a 350Z in that price range, but the TT might have the edge due to a much nicer interior, better build quality and more utility. You also might be able to get into a lightly optioned G37 for similar money.

Maybe its just me, but I always though of TT's as Womens Accessories rather then cars tbh. A man driving a TT would be immediatley laughed at. I'd get a VW R32 honestly, not as luxurious, but they are fast and great looking.

Edit: and of course, being hungover, I competely missed you were a girl rofl.

But I still think the R32 is cooler for either sex then you could trick it out and race your BF

I think the Audi TT is a really fun ride. I love the S-line package on the TT! It looks really nice, however I believe they are waaaay overpriced for what you get. Thats the only downside

Don't get the VW...you need that Audi interior.

Plus, the TT gets to 60 in 6.1s. That's pretty much on par with a 328i.

Get the car YOU WANT... Not a car that compliments what the Boyfriend has.

That being said it's hard to go wrong with the TT great looks, fun car, though I would probably actually do an RX-8 again before the TT, better rear seats, better handling, FUN and Inexpensive... YIPPA!!!

All cars have shitty re-sale values in the Category she is talking about. Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, may depreciate less but they still plummet.

Must let go and realize that cars are black holes only slightly smaller than a boat into which you will throw your money.

Thanks for the tips guys! I will be test driving for sure and will probably change my mind a million more times before I actually decide on a car. I thought I would ask though because this one just seemed so perfect and I wanted to bring out the flaws that my rose colored glasses were missing. But I agree, there is definitely some equipment that i am missing for what I would have to pay for it. But I've gotta say...thats not too different from the situation i would be in buying a BMW

Sexy exteriors and interiors win big points with me (I'm with ya, dan8131) Thus, I am willing to pay more for that than other people would.

Thanks again. I'll be sure to post pics of whatever car I get and the 328i (but it will be a while)

I second the lightly optioned G37, although the TT would have a nicer fit/finish. I would get the AWD TT though, FWD coupe would be a big no-no in my book...

Normally, I would agree with you, but 3 or so reviews I have read/watched unanimously state that the FWD 2.0T TT is the better car to drive. I have an MKV GTI, and it's probably the best driving FWD car I have experienced. I imagine that the TT drives just as well or better, being based on the same platform.

Unfortunately I think the G37 is out of the question for me...

See, when my boyfriend was deciding between the G35 and the 328, I was relentless in saying that the BMW was the better car. (I had my reasons, no need to go into them.) Now, if I consider that car, I will seem like a big hypocrite. Yes, it does seem like a good choice right now...but my pride is important too

I am also hoping that the 2009 TSX redesign is out by the time I graduate in June 08 (I know, long time away but deciding what car to get is half the fun right?). I could see that car and the TT being a very close call.

The FWD blows. Unless you get the 3.2 Quattro, don't bother.

other than integra type R (DC2), i wouldn't buy any FWD cars, just not fun in general...

and i don't trust audi...

maybe the Z4 or a S2000 would be a better buy...

but since you want something other than a BMW, then S2000?

Nahh, its not so much that I dont want a BMW...I just think that would be stretching my budget a bit too much. A 1-series would work for me though, so ill be checking that out.

Why dont you trust Audi?
