Yeah like, someone wrote the word "RICE" all over the car, I think in fact that if you use a black light you just might see it written all over in invisible ink.

Damn that ZR1 is beautiful.

I'm looking into buying a Z06, but if I could swing it without having to sleep on the couch, I'd go for the ZR1.

The SL 65 BS looks overdone. And it's still not as fast as it's competitors. The CLK 63 BS was much better.

Take away all those ostentatious body fixings and all you have is a fat car with a transmission that is hanging on for dear life and check engine lights being driven by a man who is recently divorced because his wife was cheating on him with a 21 year old underwear model

For $300k I would expect my sports car to weigh less than 2-tons. Styling is very aggressive and definitely out there.

The 599GTB is much more appealing to me for this kind of money.

Also, the person that said we're "magazine racing" - what else are we going to do? I can't afford $400k for two cars to compare and contrast them. I'm sure no one else on this thread could either.

What exactly makes the SL65 so heavy? I don't get it.

The V12, for starters. I think that's why AMG introduced the 63 engine a year or two ago. I am sure there's all this other luxury stuff to keep the original car quiet as well. Kinda like why the 335 is kinda heavy...

That still doesn't account for the 1,000lbs or so of mystery mass. How can a car that uses so much lightweight material weigh that much? Is the suspension made of lead?

I can't decide. The SL65 just looks so much more purposeful, but the ZR1 is better in a restrained sense.

From Autoweek:
Start with that DTM-racing inspired, flared carbon-fiber bodywork. Like the fixed, Black Series-unique nonconvertible roof, nearly every body panel is new. Only the doors-aluminum outer skin, magnesium inner-carry over from the standard SL65. The rear fenders and bumper are steel, but everything else is carbon. Along with some other measures, this brings curb weight down to about 4,300 pounds, almost 500 pounds lighter than an SL65.

I'm not sure how this car weighs so much, but 4300 pounds is just too much.

It's really fat and tubby. It's not a serious sports car, more like a GT coupe. I dare say a modded Cayman S would have a good chance at out tracking this thing.
