E92 M3 CSL in the Works...

According to InsideLine at Edmunds.com there seems to be no plans for an RS5 fighter from BMW in the form of an E92 M3 CSL. They state that while the CSL was just 12 months from production, BMW cut the plan since it didn't seem like it could turn a profit

seems a little odd to me that its getting twin turbos and only upping the power by 36hp and 15lbft of tq...

If the power figures are correct (450hp and 332tq) then i suspect audi will use a more highly tuned version of the upcoming tt V6. However, I'd still expect it to have more tq.

I don't know why, but I'm not that impressed with the numbers for a TT V8. Perhaps a bit more torque would be a good compromise.

People should only sign that petition if they meet two requirements: 1) they want BMW to build a E92 CSL. 2) they can meet the credit requirements to be pre-approved for purchase of a new CSL by BMWFS. There's no point in building a car no one's going to buy.

If people will buy a 100k ZR1, i would expect people to buy a 100k CSL, if BMW makes the performance close to a GTR or ZR1. But to do so, they would have to do alot of work.

Those numbers are weird, what's up with the meek torque rating?

That's easy to say. BMW, who actually researched it, came up with a different answer...

Maybe the numbers are weak because it gets crazy fuel economy? Thats the only real conclusion I can come to if this is true information.

Otherwise, might as well just get a M3. With such slight power and torque increases the RS5 can't be that much more powerful. Unless they are trying to appeal to the tuners out there and let them crank the shit out of the turbos. But that doesn't really seem to fit the Audi market share.

Turbos are like breast implants. The important numbers get bigger, but the accomplishment is hollow.

add all the cost of the turbos for 30hp??
