Muse

They are one of the best live bands out there and they have some sick riffs.

This statement really irks me and I hear it over and over again. I've been to almost 140 concerts in my lifetime and while I've never seen them in person I've seen several of their live shows on TV. Muse sounds exactly like their CD which I guess is nice but they just stand there and play music behind their respective mics. Literally just standing and playing the guitar with zero energy or charisma. Were it not for the flashing lights and massive stage setup I think most of the audience would simply nod out. Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE Muse fan and have been for years but their live show seems a complete bore. What makes a band a good live band? Because they sound like the CD or because they truly put on a good performance? I feel it's the latter.

You seem to have a very particular taste in music.

I like all music sans country. I mean, I'll listen to anything, but I like listening to stuff I really like. But I'm tired of listening to the same stuff all the time, so I'm looking for something new.

It just seems a little weird that we've made like 20-30 suggestions and you don't like any of them.

How about Eagles of Death Metal (not as heavy as their name suggests)? Queens of the Stone Age? Something like a Velvet Revolver or Audioslave sounds about your speed as well.

Eagles of Death Metal are good, but I like their first cd more than the more recent. And for Coheed the more recent the release the better Claudio's voice gets and is more normal.

Well put. Older EODM = Better, Newer C&C = Better

Most are too crazy metal. It's not that I don't like them, cuz I do listen to that stuff too. Just not looking for that style right now.

QSA, VR, and Audioslave is more what I'm looking for. Thanks.

No crap.

I don't like their music, at the same time I can appreciate a band that gives a great live performance. I kept hearing the same thing about their "performance". They suck ass imo. I've gone to a concert with only about 35 people attending and the band played like there were 1million people in the place.

Since you mention Audioslave, check out Alice In Chains and Mad Season. Mad Season is more mellow and bluesy but has Layne Staley on vocals so its phenomenal.

Thrice - illusion of safety is one of their best albums, but I still like all the rest as well!

That's the last album of theirs that I liked (since it's the last one with any energy) but it's a great one. Good suggestion.

The Artist in the Ambulance was OK but that was the beginning of a sharp decline.

hahaha in my head I'm thinking of all of the songs on TAITA but thinking the album was Illusion. Yes, you're correct. That was the album I was thinking of, after which they fell off a cliff.

Just watched a few videos on Youtube... 'Deadbolt' and 'To Awake and Avenge the Dead' would be my definition of the term "shred."
