Passenger side mirror makes a clicking noise when folding

2006 325i e90
So this recently started happening, last week when I hit the fold button my side mirror made this awful clicking noise, it made the same noise when I unfolded it. So now I have stopped folding it but obviously something is broken, anyone know what it could be and how much something like this would cost to repair? Or would I need to buy an entirely new side mirror?

Thanks in advance guys!

Hey OP, I have the same model and year and my driver side mirror does that, except mine is a bit more severe. It will sometimes actually go beyond its normal lock position when unfolding where if I stood outside my car facing the driver door, I could see myself in the mirror. Looks like I may be in the market for a new side mirror unless there's a way I can change the gear which I believe is suspect in all this.

It's a little plastic type washer that i believe sit under the spring next to your mirror motor. The easiest way to fix it is to buy another mirror like i did. Take your mirror cover off then fold the mirrors and see for youself if that is the problem.
