All sounded really good. Don't get the ugly as sin. Don't believe in it. Won't follow the trend. 599 GT is easier on the eye but LFA is decent. Want to look at something ugly as a sin, check out a WRX or Volvo.

LFA = best production car sound I ever heard. CGT and Zonda F come a close second and third. And the LFA looks just fine to me!

Oh lord yeah LF-A sounds the best. It isn't even ugly. Audi I-5 from the Group B rally car is also amazing. Now that's one ugly car, but it's beautiful at the same time lol

Volvos really don't look all that bad:

I love the V8 sound of the Ferrari 458 Italia above all V8.
I love the V10 sound of the Porsche Carrera GT above all V10.
I love the V12 sound of the Ferrari 599 GTO above all V12.
But I love the Lexus LFA sound far above all.
Who could guess that the best sound would not come from BMW, Porsche or Ferrari, but from Lexus?
i like your list...

...but the last several generations of 911 have utilized an H6 (flat opposed 6), not a V6. in fact, i don't know that the 911 ever used a V6. that being said, there really isn't much else to compare it to in that particular category...so i'll let it slide that you're comparing it to V6's .

this is my general sentiment:
I love the I4 sound of the Honda S2000 above all I4.
I love the I6 sound of MKIV Supra Turbo above all I6.
I love the H6 sound of the Porsche 911 (996) GT1 above all H6 (if there are any other H6 platforms out there...and if i had to compare it to a V6, i'd say that i like the sound of it better than any V6, including my favorite sounding V6).
I love the V6 sound of the Nissan GTR above all V6.
I love the V8 sound of the Ferrari 355 above all V8 (old school, i know).
I love the V10 sound of the Lexus LFA above all V10.
I love the V12 sound of the Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 above all V12.

don't get me wrong - i like your choice of I6. the S54B32 in the M3 CSL sounds great, if not a bit on the exotic side, which can't be said for the typical I6. however i don't find it as aggressive, intimidating, or just plain beautiful sounding as the 2JZ-GTE (or the RB26DETT for that matter). and i find the S54 a bit too raspy for my liking. granted, i'm talking about BPU Supras and Skylines - once they go single turbo, they get meaner, but less attractive sounding. all 3 powerplants are up there, so it wasn't an easy decision for me...then again, i'm slightly biased .

another tough decision for me was the V6. the MKIV Golf R32 motor, as well as the standard 2.8L VR6 motor, sound great, both boosted and N/A. granted, i know they're a slight departure from the typical V6, but the layout is similar enough. bu in the end, i think i have to give the nod to the VR38DETT of the Nissan GTR.

the V10 was a tough choice too...both the Carrera GT motor, as well as the S85B50 of the e60 M5 and the e63 M6 came in a close 2nd and 3rd.

as for the V12's, it was a tough call between quite a few Lamborghini and Ferrari V12's, but in the end i was confident in my decision. the most recent Zonda motors made it a tough call too, but the older Zonda motors had too much low-pitch grunt for my taste.

great idea for a thread Levi

on a side note, i don't know what all the production car/non-production car fuss is about. last time i checked, the quest for the best sounding car on earth was not limited to production vehicles...so the Zonda R is right back in the competition, along with all other limited production vehicles, racecars, etc.

disclaimer: i acknowledge that all of the above is just my humble opinion and not fact

Hands down Zonda F CS roadster or not has the best sound of any roadcar out there. All my opinion of course.

Fine, here you go. The Zonda Cinque. The last version of the Zonda, and it does sound incredible.

6L N/A V12. i think it sounds amazing...not my favorite V12 of all time, but definitely my favorite V12 from AMG. it sounds much better than the 7.3L N/A V12 that the original Zonda had.

The Cinque has the 7.3L 678hp V12 in it.

yeah, i'm getting all sorts of confusing information...one source tells me its a detuned version of the 7.3L Zonda R motor. yet another source is telling me that the Zonda R motor is 6L, not 7.3L...either way, my mistake.

I've always liked the sounds from VW's W-configuration engines. The complexity of the firing order sounds fantastic eventhough they don't rev that high. I'm biased naturally but I think this is the best V6 sound for under $50...
