watch out for those motor cops

Got a ticket today for not yielding to a ped according to that F@#ker. He was hidding behind some sign and didn't see him. Question for cali folks, how far do a ped have to cross before we can go? I went ahead after the ped crossed half way of the road. the rude cops said I had to wait until that ped has both of the feet on the other side walk then i can go. wat a day...

well I m really thinking to buy a radar detec to avoid those cops in the future. Although it is 400 bucks but I think its time to invest in one plus my m3 will be here next month. Does anyone know if a V-1 will detect those hidden motor cops even if they arent' lasering me out..

From my experience, laser is tough to detect until it's on and shot at you. Even if you have the best radar you still need to be vigilant and watch out those sneaky b#st#rds. I use a passport 8500 X50.

I doubt that he used radar or laser to detect your failure to yield to the pedestrian.

If they are not using any type of laser or radar it will not detect them. I have been debating a V1 as well

I have a lead foot.

About the ticket, that doesn't sound right. But then again my brother got a ticket for running a yellow light about a year ago and I didn't think that sounded right either!

You can usually fight and win those really easily (without any lawyer)

Presumably, in CA and elsewhere, they are not hiding at crosswalks with radars to catch speeders but specifically people who fail to yield or run red lights. And even if they had radar on, would the OP have known to yield until the pedestrian crossed completely and avoided the ticket? Classy though, insulting someone you do not have to face and do not know.

He asked because he wanted to know if it would have notified him of the cop. I presume he just doesn't want to wait for the next pedestrain to get all the way across the street (hence wanting to know if there is a cop around), and I don't blame him.

technically you DO have to wait til they reach the other side of the sidewalk but i've seen people turn halfway with cops right there and they dont do anything. i guess since its that time of the month, they need to fil their quota

and please no one give me that end-of-the-month quota stuff is BS

In CA, the pedestrian has to be off of the street. ie: they need to be up on the sidewalk before you can enter the intersection!! Moto cops have laser radar, better known as Lidar. You cannot detect their position until they activate the laser, thus a V1 would not have helped you. I have a V1 however, and it has saved me MANY times in avoiding a ticket. Chances are he was waiting for some one like yourself who did not 'yield' to the pedestrian!

exactly. . . . but maybe he thought that the cop was also trying to catch speeders, and by doing that, the cop's equipment might have notified his R/L detector, which he would then spot the cop and be more cautious of traffic laws at that light.

Radar and laser detectors are. . . . . RADAR and LASER detectors. . . . not COP detectors. And I dont know of too many other times besides the times that a cop is looking for speeders that he uses his radar/laser.
