Engagement ring - what do you think?
I have done some researching and spec'out this ring. What do you think?
Has anyone dealt with James Allen jeweler before? The setting alone is $1700 (Platium solitaire), the rock is $7800 |

What does your fiance/gf think? That's what matters.....
Personally I like it; I got a ring like that for my gf with a smaller diamond and setting was sterling silver or white gold; I can't remember. She loved it. |

If you asked me to marry you with that, I would have a hard time saying no. Are you supposed to go shopping with your g/f for an engagement ring?? I thought that was for a wedding ring, because the engagement is supposed to be a surprise.. -Nathan

I've never bought anything from james allen but they are very respectable. Have you gone to pricescope.com and looked at the forums and info over there? They were very helpful when I purchased my engagement ring. FYI, I purchased from whiteflash just in case you wanted to know. They were extremely friendly.
P.S. that a great looking setting and stone.

Why?? Because they aren't rare at all, and are stored by the bundles to keep the prices up??
I can get you some blood diamonds much cheaper if you want. -Nathan

well its traditional / typical...
my wife just sports a tiffany's eternity band, she thinks engagement rings just get in the way... she would much rather sport 3 eternity bands then a combination of both.. btw we are both old school hoes, so there is nothing traditional about us GL & Congrats Oh and get a good divorce attorney before you get married! trust me

Good looking ring, imo. The specs on the diamons look good, maybe even better than necessary. Seems like a pretty good price for what you are getting.
I've had family in the business for a while, so I got a great deal through a private jeweler. But your deal is on par.

i am recently shooping for an engagement ring myself, and its harder to purchase a good ring then it is to purchase a good BMW. I never know when i am getting a good deal. Its difficult to trust somebody's opinion. I have read numerous of books and articles about diamonds, and i think i have enough knowledge to buy a diamond, but at the same time i have to deal with these SALESMAN.
Good luck with your purchase. The ring i am picking out, looks somewhat like yours but has some tappered baguettes on the side. like this one http://www.davidsdiamonds.com/shop/j...px?Item=SP0006 but not that price. My price range is between 10K-15k. |

looks like a great ring. tiffany-esque but with out the "kick-my-balls" price tag. were you able to get image scope pictures from them? i think if you email them, they can get a scan for you. that's how i decided which diamonds were good.
and james allen is a respectable vendor on the web, although i was never too comfortable buying my fiance's ring off the internet. i ended up going to an internet seller that had an office in the diamond district. he had internet low prices and i liked dealing with a person face to face. |

Def. get some opinions on the stone by the ppl on the pricescope forums, they're very helpful. Most of them there recommend J.A. highly. I've bought a few pieces from Whiteflash and they're customer service is great too.

It looks nice to me, but then I am a guy. I guess I would ask to see the certificate and check the clarity rating before I say "yes".
j/k best of luck!
