Thumbs up AMAZON'S Huge Announcement (New Device/Phone!) This Week

I am a HUGE Amazon fan! Love their pricing, shipping, customer service and everything they offer me a Prime member (even if I weren't one). I believe they will hit a home run with their upcoming phone release this week. Although this promo video does not indicate what exactly it is, there is a super brief reflection in the glasses of a lady.

Play close attention @ :41

Amazon’s phone could also be the first smartphone to feature Amazon’s Mayday customer service experience. On Kindle Fire HDX tablets, Mayday a 24/7 video help system. You hit it, a live customer service rep appears on your screen, and you can ask almost any question. According to Amazon, Mayday service reps recently helped one customer beat an Angry Birds level and told another how to make the ultimate peanut butter and jelly sandwich. On the phone, Mayday could expand its oeuvre to shopping advice and even general knowledge. Think Apple’s Siri if she were a real person.

I love Amazon as well but had an infuriating experience with their customer service last weekend.

Judging by the reflection on her glasses, I think it's a white chocolate Hershey bar.

It looks to me like a phone positioned horizontally.

i'm an amazon fanboy of sorts as well. i prolly spend way too much on there. hehe

that said, i'm not a huge fan of the kindle so hopefully it's not just a small kindle that lets you make phone calls.

I'm sorry, but what a useless teaser. It tells me absolutely nothing.

They did just announce free music for Prime members. I haven't tried it, but I'm assuming it's streaming and not downloadable.

There's not a lot of content, especially newer stuff, at least compared to Spotify and Beats. However I already had 42k songs backed up on the Amazon Cloud and it integrated them perfectly.

I have had great success in streaming tons of free movies and shows on my tv which is a nice feature of Prime membership too.

Prime is great. I order shit from Amazon nearly every week. I haven't been to a Lowe's, car part store or bicycle shop in years.

I have a first gen Fire (turd) but it's nice to be able to "borrow" books for free too.

I love Prime. I just bought a subscription for my sister since she got herself a Kindle.

42k songs, Red Bread? Are you young enough to listen to them all before you die?

So it's a Fire phone? Like a Kindle Fire you can call someone with?

Hey, it's only 3 months, 24/7. My wife worked in a record store during college and we both just like a lot of different types of music. I haven't bought more than a handful of albums since Spotify came out though.

The second she said "awwwwwwwwww", that fool in the commercial got friend-zoned.

From the looks of it, they doing what Apple has already done which it to give the IOS a 3D look as you move left and right the icon appear to float and move with you.

The reason Apple has done so well is the fact they support their product who are you going to call when the Amazon phone does not work, the person on the screen that will be a joke since you know they did not design it, oh maybe the service providers, really how helpful have them been with the phone is having an issue.

Better information on it, grant it you getting the apple fans view of it, but is still an android phone. It will cause more issue for Samsung than Apple in my opinion.

Meh, idk. While it seems cool and innovative, I don't see it REALLY differentiate itself from the rest of the market.

Smartphones have reached a saturation point, and there really isn't that much more companies can do to really shine and stand with the 2 profit makers in the mobile business

At this point with all the capabilities these “smart phones” have they should just call them pocket PC’s. Isn’t a smart phone essentially a computer that just so happens to make/receive phone calls?

So this is an Android phone, which is sold at a "meh" price point only through AT&T. From a design perspective, it's nothing special. It's got some 3D gimmick. Cool, for about 5 minutes. The unlimited cloud storage is nice, but it only takes Apple to throw the switch in iCloud and then that advantage is gone. So I have the ability for the phone to recognize items so I can buy them immediately. OK, but all it takes it just another app on the iPhone for it to do exactly that. And why do I really need that? At some point, are we just innovating for the sake of innovating? This does not improve my life.

Let's see a damn phone that can last more than a day without me having to recharge it. Or have a lens that rivals my DSLR. Or, fer fuk sake, at least more than 2 bars of reception CONSISTENLY all over the world with LTE speeds no matter where I go. That's what I need. Not some tool that enables me to spend money QUICKER or this 3D garbage no one cares about.

Too bad it's initially only on AT&T unless you buy one unlocked.
