We always take it seriously when someone just starting college considers, ever so casually, between a Gelandewagen, a Jeep, and an M3, whose profile states he has an M3 already, and has 7 posts to his name on the forum.

Also there is nowhere near USC, or the beaches in LA, where you will be doing much if any off-roading. It's been a few years since I've lived in LA, but I'm pretty sure that Santa Monica beach isn't swarming with Jeeps or G-Klasse wagons ...

Since you already have the M3, just drive the M3. USC is full of students who drive nice cars. M3 will probably not even stand out much. Of course having a G-Klasse is never a bad idea, for any occasion. I'd consider adding one to the dorm parking, err, I mean, stable.

One time I was playing GTA V and I was at the strip club making it rain and then decided to start shooting the hookers, what happened next was simply amazing.

As the hookers tried to run out the exit, I picked them off one by one (see: used a shotgun) and it was like HALO, they kept re spawning and there was like a pile of dead strippers/hookers and they couldn't get over all the bodies blocking the exit so they frantically ran in circles.

The cops eventually came but they couldn't open the door due to the pile of dead hooker bodies.

As, I realized I exposed a flaw in this malevolent game, I laughed and cried as the hooker pile got higher and higher. It was truly an amazing gaming experience in my early adult hood.

but seeing as how you are actually serious i'll give you a serious response

during my years in college I had 4 different "luxury cars" (see sig) and I never had any problems BUT I also did go to UCSD where the neighborhood couldn't be more different than the area around USC. USC has tons of rich kids who drive pretty nice cars, m3 are a dine in a dozen, c63s, rs5s etc.. but with that said it really depends on where u are planning on living and parking, if you live where you have to street park be prepared to have massive bumper scratches from other careless drivers, the area around usc is VERY ghetto as you probably know. on campus parking is pretty bad too with tight spots so if you do get a nice car you have to make sure you take the precautions to avoid damage

I pulled up to my freshman year of college in an 02' Trans AM that my parents bought me as my first car, I was a total douche bag. Cracked the block in it driving it like a tool.
Parents bought me an 05' Electric Blue SRT4. I slammed it on some cheap springs with some 18" Enkies and became total ricer douche. That shit blew up, literally blew up, flames everywhere. It was a total loss.
Parents bought me a silver 01.5 Audi S4 to pull up to my Junior year with. I was still a douche, but at least I had some class at this point...right?
I graduated college with that car, got the title from my parents, got an entry level job, sold that POS Audi and bought my 11' 135i.
Now I'm the biggest douche bag in the office pulling up in an entry level BMW to an entry level job.

Shit is dope. Thanks for the exposure to this dude. Funny story, I kinda look like him on this album cover when I was a kid too. I still got the blonde hair.

Why would someone who likes cars ever buy a truck? It's an immoral lifestyle choice and I don't agree with it.

To the OP, people aren't too happy when a college aged kid comes on here and starts talking about what $100k car his daddy should buy him on top of the $200k education. I suggest doing some reading and staying away from posting about it.

M3 would be fine for USC. Graduated a year ago from USC and there were plenty of nice cars around campus. One person in my apartment building had an R8 and my other apartment building had a c63, sl63, rs4, etc....

Try to live in one of the luxury apartment complexes though... Should have a better experience than living in a house around the area. (I lived in Gateway and then Tuscany.. would not recommend Tuscany since there are new apartment buildings in the area now)

thank you to the people who gave real input about the cars and some USC/college advice, and thanks to the people who thought I was trolling for making me laugh a bit. and @JM35, should of thought of that beforehand, hope that doesn't ruin my rep here though.

I'm in college as well (Texas Christian University), don't worry bud I went through a similar experience multiple times being new to forums and such. And what I've come to learn is that the search feature is a lot better sometimes. Maybe once you figure out what youre looking for then you can throw up a post about what issues you can look for and what to key an eye out for, etc.

the above, of course, was posted in jest.

since OP is serious, Wrangler is the way to go unless you have a place where you can enjoy the M3 regularly (i.e. not sitting in the parking garage or in city traffic)

Buy a used 128i convertible. It's small and chicks dig it. And still a great BMW which only costs 25k for one several years old.

Don't listen to these jelly peasants, OP. Tell you're dad you want the M3. You won't be disappointed; it's a real dick magnet.
