If you could pick between two twin turboes...

Lotus Esprit v8tt vs porsche 996 turbo-which would you pick, I've been doing reading on both as I'd love to own either but want to hear what you think/have experienced with either!

Prices look 35-40k will get you either one no problem!

Esprit, provided it's not your only car. I'll take a Trans Am steering wheel over the fried egg head light.

Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious... That said I'd get the Lotus. I've got one on my shopping list as well, just don't steal my "PHL-STKY" vanity plate

I've always liked the Lotus but they're notorious for being problematic and I have owned a 996 TT x50 and it was a phenomenal car that was pretty solid from a reliability perspective. If it's a weekend car and you can fix it yourself then I'd go with the Lotus but otherwise I'd take the P-car.

Porsche all day. Lotus are amazing to look at but the interior is terrible (and dated) and they are problematic from a reliability standpoint. This changed when they went to the Toyota powerplants but the prior engines were terrible.

When I had my Lotus and would frequent the dealer, I was talking to the owner of the dealer about wanting an Esprit. He said flat out "You don't want an Esprit. They're uncomfortable and unreliable."
