Bye bye 335, ordering new Cayman S

It's down to a few months before my owner's choice "lease" is up. This was my first BMW and I've been dissappointed with the reliability. Multiple visits for HPFP, recently had injectors replaced. It's time to go back to a naturally aspirated engine.
Have been considering M3, but have decided to get a Cayman S. Was originally planning on buying a CPO '09 with PDK, but right now there are only 4 in the whole country and after being burned on resale of German cars in the past, decided to lease again.
Will be ordering a 2012 Cayman S with PDK, sport chrono, Nav, SAT radio, Xenon's, heated and ventilated seats. Working with the dealer for an allocation for a May or June build, should have the car sometime in July.

M3 is awesome, just want something different and am at a time in my life when I don't need back seats. Actually I'm going with the Cayman for the gas mileage
The sound and feel of the V8 in the M3 is unbelievable, was very tempting with the great lease rates. Cayman will cost a couple hundred more a month.

You won't regret it! Congrats!

I had a 2011 on order in but things didn't work out. I had the Convenience package, Infotainment with Bose, PDK, Sport Chrono Plus, and Heated Seats. Enjoy in good health! I'll have to see how things are in a couple of months to see if I can order again.

Dependable. I got a pretty well loaded Cayman S(See above) for a 4 year/15,000 lease for 950 a month. The M3(Coupe) runs right around there.

Both great cars. Both a blast to drive. Very different feel. The Cayman may be the best handling car available today,

Doesn't get any better then the mid-engine layout on the Cayman S.

The MF on Porsche leases is good, better than E90 or E92 but not as good as E93. Base MF is .00118, can get .00138. E93 base rate is .00090.
Residuals not as good either, 36k/36 month on PDK is 53%, E93 is 63%, E92 60%! Makes a huge difference. We have to pay tax on the entire purchase price here, 6.25%.
Porsche tells me they work some kind of magic by shuffling cars around in their database, so if you re-lease, no tax.

Congrats. Of course, it always seems greener on the other side. A local cop in our neighborhood is looking to pick up a M3 as his Cayman S lease is almost up and he wants a break from Porsche

Since I use German cars as DD, I keep seeing RED as my eyes wander over to the Italians...

Caymans a nice car, but I would still take a 335i coupe over it. Isnt the cayman a 2 seater? Better off with an m3 and its probably the sane price...

That's like saying the M3 is good but not fast enough in a straight line compared to a Mercedes C63 AMG.

im between a new m3 or a used pdk 997 turbo myself. although the porsche is nice does anybody get ocd when shopping for a used porsche in general though?

like you build one online and you have so many options like c/f trim, color gauges, color belt, etc and you build your perfect porsche and when you buy used although im sure most won't even notice, don't you get ocd and wonder why porsche couldn't simply things like bmw and just do premium package, cold, etc so my ocd doesn't kick in hard core.

of course i can't afford a new porsche but still i get serious ocd after building mine and shopping around for a used one. maybe just me.

decisions decisions, i might get a cayman s as well if i can't find the turbo in my price range...

believe it or not i was shocked to see how much front and rear trunk room it had. and since i don't ever carry more than 1 passenger the size is perfect.

does porsche also have a euro delivery program to get a discount like euro delivery?

The problem was, well I quit and sorta kind got laid off. my job due to some issues with management. So, I'm riding my bike for now.

They now have some packages. Convenience has Xenon's, auto-dimming mirrors, rain sensing wipers and auto a/c. Infotainment is PCM, Nav, Bose and XM.
The only other options I'm putting on are sport chrono, LSD, PDK, heated and ventilated seats and the paddle shifter wheel.
You can definitely go crazy with the configurator. If you're leasing, anything over $79k on a Cayman S/PDK doesn't count towards figuring residual, so you pay for the whole amount. That'll keep the OCD at bay.
They have ED, but it's an extra charge, a few thousand I think. Hard to beat the BMW ED deal.

Unless you drag race for money who cares about straight line speed? And if that is your thing why are you driving a German car instead of a muscle car?Just asking.

yeah, ^ well said, boxter and cayman are pretty much the same, I'd go with carrera S or a TURBO if you can handle the price.
