N52 P1006 P1017 code - feasibility to fix?
2009 BMW 328i coupe currently at 115k miles. Over the weekend after a 20 mile drive got Service engine soon light with code P1006 P1017.
Car has rough idle RPM jumps from 500 to 900. The car also has a weird high pitch noise (video link attached). https://youtube.com/shorts/Mu7cA6cebE4?feature=share The valve cover gasket, thermostat & water pump was replaced 4 and 2 years ago. Took a look at the valvetronic eccentric shaft sensor socket it has oil (not a lot). On Sunday cleaned the vanos solenoid and switched intake and exhaust. The car run very smooth for a day (codes and noise are also gone), but Monday it regressed back to rough idle and threw the same codes; very strong smell of fuel from exhaust. Also noticed a coolant pipe burst which might need to fix down the road. Oil pan has been leaking for quite a while but has been kicking the can. Does a bad valvetronic sensor gives this type of noise? Is it beyond the senor? How much $ for repairs (just for fixing the sensor) am I looking at? Do you all think it was worth fixing at this point. Family grew I has been thinking of getting another sedan recently. Located in SoCal. Thanks in advance.
