Sometimes the stars and the moon are in alignment and things just fall into place! That's how it was for me in visiting Reinhard Kleißler Klassik cars in the Black Forrest area of Germany.

A few weeks ago in another thread the forums member larryn mentioned this cool used car dealership that he came across while on his ED of his old e90. As luck would have it... I was meeting up with some friends in the Black Forrest and we all decided to meet up at Kleißler shop in Gundelfingen. I want to thank larryn for telling me about this awesome place.

Now I should warn any of you who are thinking of dropping by... this guy is quite the eccentric guy/type. His collection was worth a small fortune and he was kind of protective of who he lets in to see it. You can always schedule an appointment IF you are looking for a classic BMW - that might be one way to be sure to get in. Or... just drop by and take a chance on his mood like I did. At the end of our meeting I thanked him and gave him a package of some HariBo gummi bears - I think he liked that.

I will say that every car I saw here was PRISTINE. I mean like really clean. No rust or wear and tear. These cars were near museum piece quality. It's very rare you see that here in Germany. Also almost every car was for sale, except for that white VW Beetle, that old Fiat and a Lancia downstairs in the big main hall.

Also... even though I had the shop's address... this place was kind of hard to find! Even my Navi/GPS was a little confused. Basically there is a small FIAT dealer next door(on the same side of the road) and out front of Kleißler's shop are a bunch of parked RV's and a used car lot that straddles the narrow road that leads back to his shop. There is a huge big black warehouse across the street too. The place sits way off the main road... so this lends to part of its charm bc it makes it difficult to find. Perhaps this is done intentionally ?

If you drive past on the B3 Bundesstrasse, you can see his shop from the highway. What a sight! But like I said... once you drive into the industrial area... you have to be looking really hard to find this place. Sometimes that's the best clue your onto a cool shop... because people HAVE to know where to go... and it keeps the rift raft out. There was also a brand new Edeka(E-Center) grocery store down the street - which made for a nice place to grab lunch at the local bakery/cafe - inside of the Edeka.

But IF you can talk your way into his shop.... man did he have some rare BMW's inside!! Most of the really rare stuff was upstairs... but even downstairs, in the main garage were some rare gems. I really had to work my way quickly thru this place - I think I made the guy nervous. There was so many cool cars or interesting model cars in every corner I looked. But I could tell I was making the owner a little weary with all the photos I was taking of his place. He did have quite a bit of security cameras hidden all over the place. Pretty much every you see here was for sale. I think the most rarest car he had was the 503(?) for 400K euros. He even had an Alpina Z1 for sale! I think he said only one for 27(?) ever built ? I think he wanted 160K euros for that Z1! But a lot of his cars were quite reasonably priced.

Here is my little tour of Kleißler's shop...

Weismann... now out of business. Built in Germany near the 'Ring. They used e46 M3 engines or e39 M5 V8's and even the e60 V10 M5 engines!!! These cars sold for over 100K new here in Germany! Something funny when BMW discontinued the e46 M3 and CSL... one of the reasons given was that the engine could not pass the up coming Euro5 emissions... well... Weisman was able to certify the S54 for Euro5 and even later for Euro6 levels, I believe!

old German parking meters back in the day when the D-Mark was King(1Dm = 100 Pfennings, 10Pf was like 3 US cents pre 2001 when the Euro came out. But these parking meters were from the '70's I think)

Hey Dackleone,

I hope you are well. I have not looked at their inventory in over a year.

As usual you offer a great look into the automotive culture of Europe and appreciate your perspective. Great post!

Awesome collection! Love the Alpina Z1. I guess that is as rare as the Alpina Z8's!

That Ferrari... looks like a 512BB? I bet that isn't going cheap!

There are some great looking cars! Thanks for documenting Dackel! What a great day out!

Oddly enough, that Ferrari isn't listed for sale on Kleissler's website. But the Fiat and Lancia are!

Be prepared for some "sticker shock". Looks like that M1 will set you back a cool 785K euros!!

Once this page load... then click on the "Weitere 20 Treffer anzeigen" tab at the bottom of the page to load more cars for sale.

Yea... I don't know how you found it bc it was kind of hard to find even having a GPS and their address. From the Bundesstrasse you can clearly see it... but since I was coming from the North... I never saw the place until my third of fourth drive by in the industrial park/area. lol

thanks again for the "tip".

e34... ALPINA B10 Bi-turbo, 360 PS!!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpina_B10_Bi-Turbo

I don't remember where in this video... but the COE had a funny story about how quick the Alpina B10 was back in its day. I think it was about half way thru the (long)video. The B10 was a Ferrari and Lambo killer!
