2007 E93 top needs help lifting out of trunk

Having a small issue with the convertible top in my 2007 E93

Works fine except when closing, it needs a little help to lift out of the trunk. Very little help, maybe a couple of pounds of upward force for a second, once it gets going after a couple of inches it s fine. Nothing new and hasn’t gotten worst so I don’t suspect a leak.

All hinges lubricated and we usually only operate the top with the engine running so I don’t suspect a battery/voltage issue

Read for codes if any. Sounds like your convertible motor could be going bad? Search for that.

No codes in the car other than a fuel plausibility and a fuel vapor valve.

The roof struts could be old and weak.

In colder weather my roof struggles to lift out sometimes - it opens but not as quickly as it does in warm weather. My roof also slams into the trunk when opening, not quite as bad as it does in that video, but it's a bit more forceful than it should be. I'm guessing I need to replace these soon as well.

The Convertible Hardtop is quite complicated, and BMW does NOT trust owners to be able to Understand or Diagnose issues, giving VERY LITTLE information in ISTA. Since the top weighs ~ 215 pounds, there is ALSO risk of personal injury/BMW liability if owner gets injured. Here is ONE small bit of Information:
"A central hydraulic unit drives the retractable hardtop, The sequence of movements is supported by 8 hydraulic cylinders. 6 gas-pressurized props are also involved in the sequence of movements."
If the "6 gas-pressurized props" are like Hood/Boot Struts, perhaps one or MORE of those require replacement. Is manual lift required ONLY on one side? Is situation Better/OK in warm weather? Any fluid leak?

Check if it’s getting caught when coming out of the trunk. I had this issue years ago and the top needed a minor adjustment
