With the exception of Alice Cooper and Neil Diamond, WTF for the others? They are all one-hit or no-hit wonders. I'll reserve my judgement for Tom Waits because I have listened to practically nothing of his discography but a lot of people are vouching for him.

Alice and Neil I totally agree with. I wouldn't really argue Bon Jovi. Even though I think the Beastie Boys are horrible I wouldn't argue with them either.

The others I haven't really heard of too many. But Donna Summers...really?

I don't think it's about whether the generation of today knows or likes the bands it is that they have had an impact on music since their first album release.

Bon Jovi helped to create the 80's hair band stadium rock thing and even though their music isn't for everyone, probably everyone in the world knows the chorus to Livin' on a Prayer or You give love a bad name.

Tom Waits was the guy who wrote the song Jersey Girl for those who don't know him.
