When I went backpacking in Europe for 2 weeks I pretty much had no access to a computer for almost the entire time. He could very well have been in the same boat as me. I did, however, buy a disposable phone to use while I was over there!

Come on, there are plenty of places to use the internet in europe. He chose to not bother with writing her an email. I've lived in Germany for 20 years and unless you're talking about eastern europe which is significantly poorer than the western countries, he had no excuse. That being said, the video was fucking hilarious!

If I'm in Europe for two weeks I'm letting my girl know I'll be gone and then I'm pretending we're not electronically attached at the hip for the rest of the trip. 'Til I get back to the airport in the US nobody is contacting me.

I think some people are missing the main point: he told her a few times that he was going to Europe and she was apparently too stupid to remember. I texted this chick a while back and when she didn't respond after 1 day I figured she must be out of the country (which turned out to be true cus she called me back a week later when she got back). Some people just think the worst when they don't get a reply.

it seems like they were in a committed relationship and i find it hard to believe he or anyone wouldn't would not reach out to your gf while in europe to share what you're experiencing.

anyways, i was reading the comments on the website and most people don't believe the story either. here are some of them...

Kinda hard to believe. Girlfriend not picking up on you leaving for 2 weeks. You sending a card to your grandparents but not to her. You having no contact with anyone whatsoever. Your friend not telling her where you are. Etc. etc. And people here who think she is crazy (if you believe the story at all), imagine the person you love leaving your life without a trace, and not for a few hours, but for 2 whole weeks.

the fact that the author is deleting comments that are asking for clarifications regarding some photos seen in the movie would point toward a fake. a simple "the photos are unrelated" would have helped, but the tale IS fake anyway. you just don't drop off the world for 2 weeks and people don't go nuclear that way so easily, except imaginary girlfriends for imaginative people.
