I saw one parked next to a Model S and didn't see much of a different upon first glance.

However, I saw one driving alone and it seems like the backend was smashed up and the cockpit area inflated. Proportion seems a bit off.

I can't wait to see the new gen Model S though.

Model S is a great design, still looks modern after 6 yrs.

Honestly? There is a night day difference between the model 3 and the S. 4 of my coworkers have Teslas, evenly distributed between the 3 and the S actually.

The interior and fit/finish is top notch. I think the 3 is ugly from the outside but it is a nice car as soon as you step into it.

I've been in a few of them more than a few times (definitely more than just a test drive) and the fit and finish is easily on the same level as BMW, possibly a tad nicer.

Maybe this person ordered a Modal 3 and was just saving the plate for when they ever actually get their Model 3. Once its there, just transfer over the customer plate.

Fit and finish are top notch? I hope you're being sarcastic. Have you ever sat in a Tesla? Their interiors look so cheap...

lmao... just to be clear, a direct price competitor to the tesla model s is the new M5... i think I am going to finish my comment there.

Sure, a slower vehicle that uses (likely) 13-14mpg on average is a similar initial cost to the faster Model S.

I have driven enough BMWs and rode in the P100d enough times to know that if I was going to spend 6 figures on something, the Tesla would win out between those two.

faster around which track or in what instance above 60 mph? as far as mpg... wrong discussion at this price point... i've tesr driven a 100d and outside of throttle response, I would not touch one with a stick

And while a Model S may be quick, they tend to not be that impressive over 120mph, they're not exactly great handling and of course, they can't do much over a long period of time.

We're getting closer to EVs being truly competitive, but it's unlikely that Tesla will be the brand to crack the barrier. I'm personally waiting for the Porsche EV to see if it's the whole package.
This - and I hate Tesla.

lol my 235i would shit on the Tesla in any track any day, assuming the Tesla could even make it more than a lap or two before needing a recharge.

I guess it’s cool if you only plan to race from stoplight to stoplight. Other than that there is nothing fast about it.

Well of course. If I was looking for a track car I would track my Zed over a Tesla or your M235i. I was talking about fit and finish being nice. I don't know why you'd buy a M5 to track either, seems more of a buy it to run a family around and then track it because you can't afford another (more fun) track vehicle.

I had a 2016 M235i for about 6 months so I can say with a fair amount of confidence that the Zed is much more fun.

you said it was faster than an m5. in any instance other than from one stoplight to another, its not. everything else you just said is irrelevant.

the key here is fit and finish... and I am sorry, but build quality is Tesla's worst feature... they rushed all these cars to meet delivery expectations and qc clearly is not a top priority... i think of Tesla more as a sw engineering firm and it seems it's ran that way, they dont really know shit about cars... no buttons? faq me... has anyone ever heard of paying attention to the road?

...oh and it would appear they don't know much about finance either...

I bet the Civic driver has his $1000 deposit down and secured the vanity plate expecting a 2018 delivery (based on Musk's lofty projections). Depending on where he is on the list, that is starting to look like 2019-2020!

Just saw my neighbor driving a new Tesla Model 3.

In his driveway, he has a Tesla Model X, Tesla Model S, and Tesla Model 3. All white! haha I wonder if he still has his i3.

Seems like Tesla is doing something right because it seems as if he could purchase pretty much any car he wants.
