All right skippy. Gloves are off. You need to call my lawyer before you use my likeness. It's Trade Marked and CRed and some other stuff I can't think of because I am drunk again. Just click the link and tell him what you have done. Loser.

Hmmm.
Malibu. Drives a Mercedes. Sleeping. Drinking. Lawyers. The character Charlie on Two and a Half Men was penned from your life right? I see. I see all now. Do you own a piano? Get the car yet? |

Confession?:
I'm a valet at Geoffrey's in Malibu where lots of lawyers park their Mercedes and go to drink and I sleep in my parent's pool house. I try to pen my life from other people's lives. I do know someone who has a piano. Domo's 15 minutes is just going to get buried in this thread. Lucky him. p.s., not yet. Waiting. |

Interior spy shot. The non AMG version gets/has the same interior does it not? Unclear as to what version this shot is from.
Following the debut of the AMG models, likely at the Paris Auto Show in September, Mercedes will then announce a CL550 model, using the company’s new twin-turbo 4.7-liter V8 (replacing the 5.5-liter V8), which makes 435-hp and 516 ft-lbs of torque, an increase of 12 percent more power and 35 percent more torque, while delivering 22 percent improved fuel economy. 4.7/550 is not going to be a slouch. |

It is a great job by the engineering guys.
I keep leaning more to the lux/sport car for the next decision. I love the low slung, stiff fast car but my body is wanting to chill for awhile I think. Ventilated seats will be in whatever I get. I am sick of the sweaty back/shirt here in Dallas. 9:51am CST and the heat index is freaking 90 degrees. Argh. An ice cold beer does taste special after work in the summer. Justification, justification. |

That doesn't look to be an AMG interior shot(?) Shifter stalk on the steering column and wood wheel......
The interiors on the AMGs are relatively the same save for more heavily bolstered seats, sports leather steering wheels with large aluminum paddle shifters, and AMG gauges. A few other little AMG things like floor mats and door sills. Yeah, I hear you about comfort. One of the reasons I have the E63. The AMG version sedans can go from sedate and docile to alive and angry with just a tap of the shifter and a tap of the right foot. And if you drive like Grandma you can get decent mpg even on the NA 6.2 motor. The new 5.5s will be a nice improvement on all fronts. p.s., ventilated seats are nice, but realize they are not air conditioned seats. They simply pull air. They do work, although I never really use them here (in this climate.) Last edited by stickypaws; 06-17-2010 at 11:03 AM.. |

Never been in a CL. I did not realize they had the shifter like an Alpina B7, which is one hell of a steal right now.
Creature comforts galore, fast and pretty good handling for it's size and weight. I would entertain a low mileage, low priced silver one. 120ish sticker and can be found for upper 50's low 60's. The body design is not my favorite BMW but for what you get I could get over it. They also seem to be worry free unlike the non Alpina 07-08 7's. Great road tripper. Pulling air sounds better than stewing in sweat. |

AMGs' interiors are usually delineated by heavily bolstered seats and a different steering wheel with paddle shifters as another person pointed out. Damn, that 550 will have some serious punch. I'll have to wait to see where the power band is. If it's low enough I might save some cash and get a CL550 with an AMG package.... and maybe a Designo package. Time will tell On a related note, I might walk from the 740 I was going to order my wife and pick her up a brand new F10 535i tomorrow instead We'll see, it depends on whether or not the salesman got the equipment right when he described it. He claimed it had an anthracite headliner (a must with me if I'm getting a new car) but I don't see that as an option on U.S. bound 5 series.

And you won't get a hand built motor with the 550, either. The 550 motor will be satisfying, but double check all of the performance enhancements that you get with an AMG before you finalize. Only you can decide whether they are worth going with an actual AMG. AMG/MBUSA will be setting up a build your own website specifically for AMG models soon. In the meantime, check here if you haven't already done so: http://www.mercedes-amg.com/#/home btw, I have an E63 AMG. And no, I'm not making that up |

@stickypaws
Yeah, I know re AMG. They actually handle pretty nicely. My old man has a CLS63 (his second one in two years, ) and it's a solid car. Standard Mercs handle like boats so, now that I think of that, the idea of a non AMG Merc is totally out the window.
