Funny weather in Stuttgart

Yesterday was relatively 'warm' (the car told me was +5C) but raining. This morning it was cold and miserable. Then we had snow earlier this afternoon for about 30mins. And now it's bright and sunny with only a few clouds.

I wish I lived in Germany. I LOVE dark, cold, and rainy weather.

Ha ha, except with all the driving I did yesterday, my car isn't as clean anymore

However, I'm still pretty amazed at how good it looks. A couple of weekends ago I took the time and effort to thoroughly wash, polish, and wax the car. I did the wash, polish, and 1 coat of carnauba wax on the saturday, and the 2nd coat on the sunday. So even though it's nice and dirty now, it still looks shiny. I'm glad my efforts paid off.

You need to switch to Zaino. Carnauba is good stuff, but only for like a day.

Unfortunately, I don't believe it's available in Germany (or I would have to pay an arm and a leg for it). I use the Sonax Xtreme #2 polish (a light polish for light swirls and scratches) and the Sonax Xtreme #1 BrillantWax. Both are extremely easy to apply and remove. And they smell nice (it's always a bonus to have a nice smelling exterior ).

Yeah. An arm and a leg. Just taking the basics (Z-2 Pro and Z-5) I would be looking at €70, plus of course all the extra accessories such as microfibre towels and other cleaners, etc. But then for I would probably end up spending even more on the Zaino products because I guess if you're going to Zaino then it should be done properly.

For the Sonax products, I spent about €25 for both. So with all my other accessories (Sonax high gloss shampoo, Sonax glass cleaner, Sonax wheel cleaner, Sonax interior cleaner, 4 microfibre towels, 4 interior towels, 3 waffle sponges, 4 drying towels, a 10L bucket, and a crate to carry everything) the total came to roughly €70 or €80. I'm a bit happer with that price as I can still keep the car looking pretty good, and then take it to a professional just before I sell it. BMW has a full professional detail (the same they use on their used cars) for €179 and it covers absolutely everything.

And the results from the Sonax treatments are quite respectable. The last 3 photos were taken after the 2nd coat of wax. The other (earlier) photos were taken only after a wash and polish.

okay nvm, I'm glad I don't live in Germany. I wouldn't mind having a vacation home there though.

This is funny. It went from a thread about the weather to a thread discussing different polishes and their prices.

Oh well, I guess that's what 'off-topic' is for.

Hmmm, not sure about that. What I was told sounded not very promising. But we'll see I guess!

I want to clean my car, put my 18"s on and want it to stay that way.

Ha ha. I'm really hoping we have some nice weather this summer. I got my car last June (just in time for what I thought would be summer) and it didn't seem to stay clean for more than a couple of days. I have had the car cleaner for longer this winter than I had in summer.

Fingers crossed....
