The instructions are basically the same, but instead of pushing the controller in the up direction, which is not possible, you need to push the controller to the left and keep it there for 10 seconds. So the instructions become;

Call up Start (main) menu
• Push controller in the left direction for at least 10 s
• Rotate controller, 3 notches to the right
• Rotate controller, 3 notches to the left
• Rotate controller, 1 notch to the right
• Rotate controller, 1 notch to the left

Look it's the BMW version of The Konami Code..

Turn the car off or restart iDrive by pushing the volume button in for 30 seconds which will reboot the head unit.

Unless there is God mode in the hidden menu, I don't care.

MPG correction factor was nice in my E90 - managed to adjust the onboard computer to be accurate within 3%.

My F30 seems to be dead on so I haven't fiddled with the hidden menu at all.

You unlock the menus and the ability to change things.

BMW locks the functions so the average driver cannot accidentally change things, but the dealerships are shown how to unlock the functions so they can change things.

use of service menu

I had problems with my gps not showing the correct location. I used this menu to reset the position.

Very handy!
