great win for Alonso, was an epic race for the last 30 laps, between hamilton crashing and lotus catching on fire

LH didn't leave a car width for webber which he is supposed to unless he is TOTALLY past. Having "cleared" him means he was more then 1/2 car length ahead which means he gets to choose his line and only has to leave enough room for the other driver to stay beside, which he didn't really.

That said, with the speed webber went into the corner, that outcome was going to happen whether hamilton left room or not.

Regardless of MW was right or wrong, it was a pretty stupid and risky move. He could have easily avoided LH; he just didn't want to. And he was damn lucky not having been a casualty as well. LH was clearly ahead of MW, and right on his blind spot; MW was just an a-hole, whether justified or not. I'm not a fan of either one, but at least LH is not an a-hole.

Bad luck continue with LH today, although he is now 3rd for the champ, he will need to pull alot of tricks out of that yellow hat to be a serious contender for the next 4 races. I still think the McLaren is not as fast and I dont think they are going to improve any better. NW driving is questionable for a veteran.

Please, we have all seen his kamikaze decision making against Sebastian Vettel in Turkey and his lack of common sense at Valencia against Heikke. The guy thinks his dad owns the track.

I'd say its just bad luck for LH...he thought he cleared MW and turn into the apex as usual.
Then MW wanted to take the position back by taking the inside line into the corner.

However LH was only 1/2 car ahead and MW wasn't planning to give it back easily, so, shit happens. Nothing more than just racing incident.

+1

I still remember the Canadian GP of '08. Hamilton couldn't get past Kimi on the circuit so he "accidentally" hits him in the pits... when the light was clearly red. And that was the *only* reason BMW Sauber got that 1-2 win. If not for that, they would've been fortunate to get on the podium.

Webber was very lucky, his tire was about to come off!!!

http://planet-f1.com/news/18227/6403...ery-very-lucky

Quote:
Bridgestone's Hirohide Hamashima has revealed that Mark Webber was extremely lucky to finish the Singapore GP as his tyre was on the verge of coming off its rim.

Webber, who pitted on lap 4 of the 61-lap Singapore GP, suffered a collision with Lewis Hamilton on Lap 36, causing his front right tyre to come loose of its rim.

In fact, in the hours after Webber crossing the line in third place, Bridgestone inspected his tyre and found that it was just 5mm away from slipping off entirely.

"He was very, very lucky. It was just 5mm from slipping off," Bridgestone's director of motorsport tyre development Hamashima told Autosport. "If it had slipped off then the pressure would probably have gone down.

"So Mark was lucky there, but also with the track too. If there were very high-speed left hand corners here, then the tyre would have moved a little bit more and then it would have been finished."

Asked whether he had ever seen a tyre remain inflated like that in those circumstances, he said: "No. A few times I have seen it for a few laps, but over 25 laps is incredible."

Given his attitude and the way he drives this season, I would say, LH performance is pretty good this year. Makes me want to start rooting for him since he is well now the underdog in the four (FA, MW,LH,SV).

Just to make my biases clear, I am a much bigger fan of Webber than Hamilton.

That being said, I think you are being incredibly harsh on Webber. If you watch some of the other passes at turn 7, the successful guys usually left a bit more room than Hamilton did. If you MUST place blame on someone, well sure, Webber could have backed out. But I don't think his move was "stupid" or "lucky." Webber knew how important track position was for the championship, and he is simply a hard racer.

From my point of view, blame goes 75-25 webber Hamilton. Not enough for a penalty so well done by the stewards.

Other points I'd like to make - great run by Robert, and great to see such an eventful race!! So much passing in the dry on a street track, if Singapore keeps delivering like this, it will remain a popular grands prix.

And how badass is Heikki?? Talk about taking care of your own business - major props to the Finnish way of doing things, I was impressed how cool and responsible he was.

Hamilton haters go through such lengths to show their dislike. Pretty funny as he is one of the only actual racers on the field. He makes the moves that make or break races. And he has a racing spirit, thats more than enough for me to like. He might not always get it right, but no one on the grid does. At least he plays fair.

Another note, how is it only 1/2 car length when Webbers' front tire hits Hamilton's rear tire? Seems pretty avoidable to me.

I had a feeling that Hamilton had another DNF coming to him though. I could just see it coming. Hopefully now it is out of the way and he can get back to it.

Of cource he didn't want to. He's racing for a WDC. He saw an opening and took it. LH would have done exactly the same thing had the tables been turned.

Thus, its just a racing incident, good to see no further actions to MW from the stewards.
We need more this kind of wheel to wheel racing, not the stewards slapping everyone's hand on a failed attempt.

Nonetheless, still very unlucky for LH. But its all part of motor-racing.

I agree, im my eyes it was 90% Webbers fault but it was a racing incident, and I'm glad he wasnt penalized. Mainly because it would have given Alonso a big advantage in the Championship, I'll much rather see Webber win it, then the biggest cry baby in F1

It sux for LH but when you try as hard as he does, these type of things will happen. Very unfortunate to have it happen back to back races, one being 100% his fault and the other not so much

The most oblivious racer in F1...he doesn't know anything about any "spy gates" or "crash-gates".....
