For those who are married...

Does the modding/fun end? Me, I'm a 27 year single guy, with no debt, decent income and a serious passion for cars. I want to know, does that kind of all go down the drain when you say "I do"? I just can't picture myself having to get rid of my e92 for a "family car"...

EDIT: Although I appreciate all input, I'd prefer insight from married people only!

Pretty much. Anything that gets more attention than her is a def no no. Of course I'm generalizing but there are FEW exceptions to this rule

Just keep her in the kitchen where she belongs, that way she can't see the car and therefore won't know about your mods. Problem solved.

Married, not necessarily. When the kids come, I'd say yes.

Is this due to needing more room or kids can't ride in a "fast" car?

I've seen a guy with a newer M5 and his plates read "FASTDAD"...I figured he's having his cake and eating it too. 500HP family car.

Hmmmm... this may be the reason why some girls say I'm an ass. They can be in the middle of a sentence and a GTR rolls by and my attention is IMMEDIATELY drawn to the car!

...."Oh, uh sorry babe, what we're you saying"?

This.

When I got married, I convinced the wife to pick up our car in Germany and do a European honeymoon. Fast forward 5 years and 1 kid, and things have definitely changed. Not for the worse, just different. Priorities change.

Just set up a "Mad Money" account that you commit some cash to every paycheck and tell her this is your fun money and you can do whatever you want with it and she can't say a word about how its spent. Of course, you'll need to agree on how much you get to put into it every month.

Most likely but good way around that is to be with someone who shares your hobbies like cars.

I have a friend who is seriously into cars (built his own Factory Five Cobra). He just feeds his wife some nice jewlery every once and awhile and he's good. I get by with my wife because I fix her Z3 for her, so she can't complain.

Depends on the women. I'm not married but my girlfriend enjoys my cars and respects my passion for it. She is happy to take trips in it, etc. BUT you have to be smart with your time, if you ignore her.......no one will be happy.

oh, and kids can ride in fast cars as long as your not an idiot driving it. Gf has a 6 year old daughter who loves the 'Red Dragon' and loves the roller coaster feel of a high TQ turbo car. Always screaming "more more more...faster faster faster....again again again."

BUT, again, be smart, dont put any kids in danger.

if you have a brain and find the right girl, you can have your fun as well.

trip to Canaan Valley, WV last year...what amazing roads!

Nice pictures Sniz, the middle one is adorable

My plan is that if I really need a family car, I'll get a second car. You're going to have to pry my roadster from my cold dead hands

Your future wife is not going to be happy if you don't let her indulge in her hobbies while she sees you indulging into yours. Obviously both parties should be frugal for the most part.

There was a thread years ago about how some guy spent so much time and money on his Acura instead of his wife, and she'd complain about it... very stupidly, he had the nerve to start a thread about it asking "what the hell is wrong with her."

If you marry your best friend (of the opposite sex of course), then no. The best years of my life didn't start until I married her. I've also been married to someone that was just a girlfriend, and those years were less than stellar.

As someone pointed out earlier, kids change your priorities. I have no children, so my priorities have matured a bit, but haven't changed.
