Gsr all day every day many have said they regret buying the mr. It takes the fun away in my opinion, why get an awd car that you can't launch? But that's just my opinion go on both evo and sti forums and ask around. Evolutionm.net and iwsti.com

If you like to mod you should get the GSR. The MR SSTT is still in it infancy so mods to make it more stout are not quite there yet. I am sure that they will not be cheap when you consider labor. Plus then you can throw your warranty out the window. Ha Ha as if you had a warranty to begin with. Mitsu is notorius for not backing their product.

The GSR is your best bet if you are going to mod. But be prepared to buy a new clutch right from the get go. From what I have heard the tranny is very stout though.

I would check out some of Evo X forums before buying you will learn alot just by lurking.

There is a launch control on the MR. You can check it on YOUTUBE. EVOXFORUMS.com is a good website as well.

I really just cannot understand these debates.

I have driven both of these cars and I, like every other magazine review, have found the Evo to be the superior car.

The only rationale for buying a STi is fanboyism (and a sixth gear). Drive both and you will immediately know which one is better than the other.

Trust me, I know. I know what I'm talking about, everything you just said above I said in my super long post before such as needing a clutch no matter what with the gsr. I've seen the launch control and raced against it a million times. You will never be able to launch as fast as a gsr. It also over heats, they offer something called the sst cooler but it's a sad sight to see a evo x mr on the drag strip they ALWAYS lose. I like evolution m and tristate evo the best.

no34babyshaq- m5 engine swap, LMAO (ny state lottery is now 200 MILLION DOLLARS lol) Thats how much that would cost if it were even possible, good one.

VTECaddict- I LOVE the way the boxer engine sounds!

Here, watch this Evo x mr sst break on the track At 25:45 at this link

I'm in the video also, driving the white evo x with the blue tape all over it. Get the gsr or don't get a x trust me. Also notice in the video how the evo's DOMINATE over the subaru's

I've driven both as well. The EVO out of the box is the better track car. However, living daily with a 13:1 steering ratio can get old. For a daily all purpose car, I would vote the STI.

Honestly either way I think you will be happy. They are both great cars.

There both solid cars so you realy cant go wrong with either. There is a white Evo gsr that lives in my area thats dropped and wingless, based on what that car looks like I would probably go with a new Evo.

Dude I forgot to add this point, the turning radius is AWFUL! U turns take so much more movement then in any other car, and when you couple that with the stage two or three clutch that you are going to have to buy, you have a nightmare lol. I'm so when I'm looking for a space by my gf's apt since there's never any parking I'm back and fourth a lot, and mad slow making two point u turns with traffic honking at me since I have to baby my 6 puck clutch or it will give off chatter. lmao it's a small price to pay

STiRob-I agree, he should just drive both.

I used to be all about performance. Drivabilty day to day comes later in life I guess. Your car is probably an absolute blast though. Hats off to you!

I have other cars as daily drivers so, when I pull the X out it's very purpose driven . The boring 328xi and 98 accord coupe are the daily a to b joints, and honestly he wouldn't be happy going from the interior of a 328 to an evo IX, those things are like rattle boxes in comparison.

Nope. 6 speed transmission with limited slip would already eat up about 50% of the cost to upgrade. Add all the STi bits and pieces that's been reinforced, to make a WRX into an STi beater on the track you NEED to spend more than the $$$ difference between the two.
