Yes, Applecare

You never really mentioned why you wanted to move from PC to MAC? Is there a specific reason? Seems your usage of a computer revolves around native windows software -- Office, Outlook (w/ Blackberry Exchange server), etc. In terms of pure productivity, I don't know why you'd want to switch. But to each his own

If you haven't already, you should go to www.macnn.com and browse the forums there. Plenty of the folks there have asked similar questions. Just make sure to cut through the "MAC fanboy" hype a dig out the info that is pertinent to you.

Oh, and stop using IE! Get Firefox.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion obviously, but that's like saying a go-cart is better than an e90 because it's easier to fix. Also, saying a PC is "easier to operate & control" than a Mac is just plain a WRONG opinion!!

Yup, my advice is for you to max out the memory and your new computer will fly real fast. I suggest you get. 2GB 667 DDR2 - 2x1GB SO-DIMMs.

I have a PowerBook my self, but have been a Apple user since 1993.

I hope you're getting the MacBook Pro... Good luck, you're really gonna love your new toy.

1 GB is enough. This is some good data that shows that beyond that you get little return.

You sound like you don't know all that much about computers (not that you should and no offense) and a Mac is especially a good choice for someone like you.

Why not have the macbook "dual booting" with windows. With macbook you can use both OS and that's why it's so appealing. I'm thinking of getting one too...

when people ask me whether to go macs or pc i usually tell them that macs are supposed to be easier to use (i wouldnt really kno but that is wat every1 says); however if u wish to customize a computer, the market on pc parts is obviously larger and based on that i would go pc.

yep, but I'd go with a Mac. In my view, for the small number of proprietary parts that Apple won't cover in a Mac that will need to be updraded or replaced is insanely small, if ever. Compare that to the number of times you actually use a computer. For me, I'd rather use a better machine everytime I turn on the computer than know I have fully prepared myself incase I want to upgrade the motherboard.

I've been using my macbook for about a month now

it's nice but does take some getting used to......

I still use the PC for work but now use the mac for home

for now, I don't really love it yet (the remote control is the coolest thing in the world though).... takes some time to learn all the shortcuts that I was used to using....

I finally bought my new MacBook last week.
I went with the black 13" .
I sold my 17" PowerBook, bought the Macbook, max'd out the RAM and still had some money left over. Best bang for the buck IMO.
The 13" screen is a great size for me, I was real tired of the 17". Couldn't hardly use it on a plane, too big for me.
Plus now my laptop will fit in my hard cases on my bike.
Boot camp works well, and XP seems to run smoothly so far.
I've only owned Mac's and always had the top of the line, but the performance of the 13" macbook is impressive and I just love it's size and style.
Same processor, not as big of video memory as the pro, but my MacBook runs Motion and Final Cut Pro just fine.

BTW, don't buy the RAM from Apple, it's twice as expensive as you can find elsewhere.

It's the leading web browser after Internet Explorer mostly due to security. The Mac version and the Windows version of Firefox are more or less identical. Firefox has about 10% market share now compared to 88% by Internet Explorer.

You sure are. I got every member of my family to replace their PCs and buy a Mac in the last year alone (that's 12 Macs!). I myself have 3 Macs. 1 20" Intel iMac, 1 17" PowerPC iMac and 1 12" Powerbook.

Same here! but it's been a work in progress for the last few years.
Everyone I've converted is very happy with their Mac.
