Yup I fitted m4 sport pads when I upgraded my fronts blue 370mm dis calipers and rotors to match the existing rear blue m sport 345mm dis rotors.
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...2&postcount=42 TBH 340/345 m sport with SS lines, decent pads and RBF or dot 5.1 BF is a very effective upgrade.

The M Sport $650 brake upgrade is very similar to the $2K plus M Performance Brake Upgrade as they both have (made by Brembo for BMW) 4 piston front calipers and 2 piston rear calipers. They actually have the same sized rotors as well - 370mm front, 345mm rear. The only difference are caliper color (blue vs a choice of red, yellow, or orange) and blank rotors vs dimpled and slotted.
In my head, if you are building a car to spec the $650 M Sport brake option is an absolute no brainer. If you buy one off the lot that didn't have that option, the M Perf Brake upgrade is for you, albeit more expensive.

I love these and have always wanted the blue calipers. (NOT the M perf orange/yellow/red).
Working on upgrading my newly purchased 2015 Melbourne Red 335i XDrive with an M Perf Exhaust- then will be on the lookout for front/rear BLUE m sport calipers. If anyone knows anyone selling 4 blue calipers, let me know. |

OK, quick Q:
Summary: 2 versions of M Sport Blue Brake kit&calipers- one for 340mm on f20's, one for 370mm on f30's. Got it. Has anyone upgraded their stock 335i rotors (340mm)with the F20 BLUE M Sport calipers? (#34116799465 & 466) As mentioned above, a 340mm/345mm setup is plenty fine. Pads will change the practical feel more anyway. I'm not leaping forward in performance here over the stock 335i, however, I like M Sport BLUE @ all 4 corners while somewhat minimizing the cost. If the M Sport Blue calipers meant for the F20 are plug & play to my 340mm rotors on my stock 335i, I'd consider that. (Although, both versions of M Sport Blue Calipers appear to be the same price.. I'd really just circumvent paying for larger rotors and mounting hardware, but still pay for overhauling the rears. I get it). |

For 335i you should change the front pads for something with more bite- either 460 OEM "Sport" pads, or 969 "M3" pads, or some Hawk HPS, EBC Yellow or similar. I had 066 base pads with the grey 335i front I've put first, and those are terribly slippery. I've fed up with hot squeal (better to say SCREAM!) of EBC Yellow on the stock 300mm rears, so decided to give the factory 460's a try instead of any analogues.

So you just replace the front calipers with the blue ones to match the rears.

You will need to specify blue colour. You may have some challenges ordering this in Toronto if you're trying to use that part number though. This kit number seems to be more commonly known in the US. You're also going to pay an arm and a leg.

Note, that you can also use the M sport calipers/rotors from a 335/340. Don't use rear axle parts from the 328i (has a smaller rear hub than your x-drive car). |

If you want 370mm rotors in front, those where the part numbers for the front calipers. (and the rears). Both in blue. As I saw in realoem.com the are superseeded by new part numbers. But your dealer can check and see the correct numbers. As the 18" M Performance Brake Kit is only available in yellow, red, orange you shouldn't order the kit. But you can order everything as single replacement part. The blue calipers for the 370mm front rotor can be ordered as such replacement parts. For example the 335i get's the 370mm rotor and the blue caliper when buying the option "S2NHA". The following link shows the 335i front caliper part number with "S2NHA"=YES (so the calipers must come in blue) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=34_2012 (I did choose the 335iX USA version, because the 328i USA Version will get 340mm front rotor with the "S2NHA" option. And so the blue calipers will only fit for the 340mm rotor but not for the 370mm rotor) For the rear caliper: The rear rotor with the "S2NHA" option will always be 345mm size. So the same blue caliper is used for the whole F3x series with "S2NHA" option http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=34_2033 For the front rotors: Any 370mm rotor flat surface or dimpled/slotted version is fine For the rear rotors: 345mm rotor come in different flavors depending on the emergency brake size. So you dealer needs to order the right one for your car. I belive 34206797607 normal flat surface or 34206797600 dimpled/slotted surface are those for your car. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=34_1970 Hope this helps

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=34_1949 It looks like front should be 340mm for me then, and 345mm in the back? Since I've never bothered to change rotors before, is there any difference in OEM vs aftermarket ones? Thanks! |

Well, you can choose between 370mm or 340mm front rotor. (The M Performance Brakes option is 370/345 for all F3x from 316 to 340).
By choosing 370mm rotor, 18" rims are needed. Summer and Winter! Snow chains won't fit on 18" wheels. (If I'm not wrong) And again, depending on the front rotor size, the front blue caliper have different part numbers. Braking power is about the same for 340/345 and 370/345. The larger rotor just looks way better with 19" or 20" rims.

1. No 340mm don't look to small on 18" rims, but kind of with 20". (340mm rotor btw, the factory rotor size for some F3x like the 335i.) 2. Not all 18" rims will work with 370mm rotor and the according caliper. Here is a list of all BMW rims, that are fine with the 370mm rotor. If you have any aftermarket 18" rims, you need to check if they free the caliper if using the 370mm rotor. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=03_0108 3. You don't see that listed because the US version 328i S2NHA option only upgrades to 340mm rotor and the "small" blue caliper in front. (In Canada you get the US version as well, I think. Check with your VIN Code) Every F3x will get 370mm and "big" caliper, with the M Performance Brake (red, yellow, orange) Every F3x 335i/340i will get 370mm and "big" caliper with the S2NHA Option (blue caliper) On every F3x you can, from a technical point of view, mount the "big" blue S2NHA caliper of an 335i/340i. If you want "big" blue caliper and 370mm front rotor, just look at the front part of the 335i/340i. S2NHA=YES If you want "small" blue caliper and 340mm front rotor, just look at the front part of the US model 328i. S2NHA=YES For the rear parts take exactly the one of the S2NHA for YOUR car (because of the rear brake rotor can vary due to emergency brake differences of F3x models) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=34_1970 Perhaps you also look at my F3x brake thread. http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=858607

If you ask me - if the new look is worth the price than go for it otherwise the money's not really worth the performance difference. Just me though.

Ah okay. Still my brakes (especially the calipers) really stand out in a bad way. I'll definitely upgrade but I'll wait til my current rotors need it.
