I'm sure you're not that old. I'm just calling it an old school reference because that movie came out 13 years ago That being said, I was a teenage at that time. But at least I can say, I did have my license at that time!

Graduated in 80 and was 20 years out of HS in 2000. Had the 20th reunion then. Hence the comment, " I can say I celebrated 20 years out of high school."
My math may be a little off.

no no, was all my fault. you were 20 years out of high school when the movie reference was formed. That's where i was lost, I thought you meant you were 20 years out of high school now.

Either way, still lot's of life left to enjoy, and lots to look forward to. I watch my dad out on the golf course almost every day, playing with fast cars, doing track days, traveling, going for hikes/camping in the mountains, and etc. And he's turning 62 in April. And has 2 grand children he chases around.

So, depending how you look at it, life could be just beginning for you

After nearly freezing my hand to the legs of my tripod I decided it was time for leg warmers. Most I found on line ran $35, which is insane. So a quick trip to Home Depot for some 1/2" pipe insulation and voila, leg warmers. Total cost = $2. I probably could have been anal about it and got the tape rings nice and straight, but hey, it works.

I consider 13 years to be pretty old. that's not just the 2000's, that's the 90's.

I watched Night at the Roxburry the other day with my sister, and we were commenting on how out of date the bathing suits on the beach in Cali were. Only to realize the movie was done in 98, which i thought wasn't that old. But if you look at cell phones and such that we have now compared to what we had back then... It's a whole new world.

And I also figure, if oldies music stations are playing music from the mid 90's, then it's old

I remember this one along with having to develop film

Mark, you should have let your hand freeze to the tripod, had your wife help you unstick it and then declare. " I wish I could have had a carbon fiber or wood tripod, then this would not have happened."

Wifey would have bought me a cheap pair of gloves. Or told me to just piss on my hands to unfreeze them. Not much sympathy from her corner when it comes to spending $$$.

I remember using those bag phones. And to tell the truth, I miss my old green screen Kyocera that would go 10 days without charging.

Wow, it's been that long??? How time flies...

Funny you bring up "Night at the Roxbury". The other day as I was listening to Eminem's "No Love" and I knew the sample was from "What Is Love" by Haddaway. But for the life of me, I couldn't remember the title of the movie it was also featured in. Thanks!!!

Yes, that is interesting. I see at least one make (Pentax I think) making their third generation bodies (EVIL for those that didn't watch the video) compatable with their existing lenses. I would hope that Canon and Nikon to that.

If I could use my 500mm lens, I can easily see myself using a third generation camera that shoots 30 or 60 fps silently. I'm really looking forward to an AF function so smart that it knows I'm shooting the flying bird and not the bushes behind it. Of course, then anyone could do it.

If it comes to that, then we'll have to totally differentiate ourselves with our artistic eyes. I enjoy the skill part of photography, but I HATE the missed shots. In my photography life I've had two chances at a hawk flying low on the grass, straight me, squaking at me and I missed both. The first time, I was ignorant and didn't know that was one of the hardest shots anyone can shoot, the second time, I knew better, but had the 1.4x TC on the camera and it reacted slowly and not a single shot was useable. (Put the 1.4x on and something will fly too close and fast, take off and it'll be too far away. Oh for a 400-700mm f/4 zoom that only weighed 9-lbs).

Last weekend I saw at least thirty ring-necked pheasant cocks fly in great light and I didn't get a one. If I were shooting with my shotgun, they'd be easy targets, but with the camera you have to get the lens on and in focus and you've only got a second or so to get it done. I preset the focus, anticipate where they'll be, etc., etc. but that shot is killing me. I'm even looking around to see what I can sell to afford a Series II 500mm or 600mm, with faster AF.

Still, a magical camera that I could just point in the right direction would be welcomed by me.

Dave
