2012 Merc ML63 AMG revealed

The estimated combined fuel economy for the high-performance SUV is 16 mpg, marking a 33-percent improvement over its predecessor. The basis for the excellent fuel economy and performance is the AMG 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine with an output of 518 hp and torque of 516 lb-ft, representing an increase of 15 hp and 44 lb-ft over its predecessor. The available AMG Performance Package boosts the V8 engine's power output to 550 hp and its maximum torque to 560 lb-ft.

I like the X5-M especially the front end it looks so aggressive and I think the new ML63 can match these looks. Compared to the current ML63 it has changed a lot. Only thing I don't like are the wheels but everything else is good. Interior is very nice, better than X5 IMO. There's nothing wrong with X5 interior but its VERY similar to 5 series/7 series.

Also, 550bhp wtf! I thought the bhp wars would come to and end.

I love it except for the rear bumper in the side profile shot. I'd still take an X6M... but that's only because the Cayenne Turbo S hasn't come out yet

Still waiting on the inevitable G63

No AWD ... They refuse to put 4-matic on their AMG models. That is the only thing keeping me from getting an AMG SUV.

It is.. and always has been. Unless something has changed since their previous 55 and 63 models.

EDIT: I just looked and it appears they have added the 4-matic to the car.. Good for them. Might have to look into this truck in the next few months.

No idea how you could drive a RWD SUV with that much TQ. That would be a safety nightmare for all soccer moms

The ML55 and the first generation of the 63s were DEFINITELY RWD. I had a ML430 back in the day and it was also rear wheel drive.

The first gen ML's also didn't have near these levels of HP/TQ for such heavy machines so it was not necessary. Times have changed drastically and I feel that this is a very positive change.

The rear isn't sitting quite right with me...I'd also like to see it in something other than white so I can get a better idea of how the aluminum trim would stand out. Would look good in a dark bronze or graphite.

I have a ML55 and it is definitely AWD!
The tranny will not handle this power or torque........

Looks to plain and could get mistaken for a sport edition. Needs more visual differentiation IMO.

Um, I really don't see how they could make this thing any busier looking.

I am in love with that front end. The rear lights will have to grow on me. Side profile looks real nice. I don't think it need to look any busier then it already is. I just hope it has the AMG grunt.

the new ML as a whole is a huge disappointment for me. On the old ML, the Jeep Grand Cherokee resemblance was minimal but I feel like it is so blatantly obvious on the new one.

looks okay. still don't understand why amg/M have to have their badges on SUVs, but i guess there's a market for it.
