Interesting fall out from Silverstone.

It seems the FIA are allowing Pirelli 2 totally unrestricted test sessions.

http://en.espnf1.com/f1/motorsport/story/114053.html

And race drivers will be allowed at the upcoming young drivers test.
http://en.espnf1.com/fia/motorsport/story/114085.html

Seems like the right thing is being done. I just hope Germany happens without a hitch and we dont end up with another Indy 2005.

If its another Indy 2005, no cars will be running at all.
Since there's a sole tyre supplier. However its less embarassing than just six cars running the race.

This article is amusing.. the way its written really paints the picture of Pirelli putting sole blame on the car setups and track.

None of the cars were running excessive camber in the rear. They all always look to run almost zero camber in the rear, the fronts are a different story.

In any case, whatever the cause of the damage was, they shouldn't have all exploded the way they did.

Kevlar is an amazing material, and I'm sure using it instead of steel will go a long way towards keeping the same thing from happening.

So now they are going to restrict suspension settings and tire pressures too?

My DVR works fine. It's NBC that's unreliable. Thanks for the heads up, though. At least this weekend I'll be home to make adjustments.

Hamilton must be thinking, "at least these cars don't have Pirellis on them".

Lewis won the last race here at the ring. I think he's going to win it again this year.

Mercedes looks to have remedied their tyre wear issue.

Rooting for Hamilton, but putting my money on this dude here...

Lewis was robbed at Silverstone by the bloody tyre fiasco as he was the class act all weekend. A real shame too as with Vettell DNFing, it would have introduced an extra variable into the championship fight. Regardless I'd like to see Lewis win in Germany.

I agree, Hamilton was robbed. Looks like Mercedes has their act together, and Hamilton's switch was a good choice.

My money's on Hamilton as well, I'm a Hamilton fan. Weber I wasn't a huge fan of, but I'm rooting for him too. Anything but Vettel running away with it.

After the race at silverstone the bbc sent their pit lane reporter over to turn 4. He noted that the concrete curbing was raised above the turf there and that a lot of drovers were cutting the corner. His theory was that the drivers were rubbing the tire sidewall on this exposed concrete which in turn weakened the tire - hence the same tire exploding in the same way on several cars.

Has this been disproved?

This.

Can't root for a cheating team like Mercedes. No doubt they have their tire 'issues' sorted. 1000km of black-helmeted secret testing will do that.

This totally SUCKS! I cannot find on my TV guide when or what channel the practice, or qualifying and the race for that matter. Comcast just shows "to be announced" after a few hours into the future.

I've looked online and found a couple schedules that say NBC or NBCSN, but my comcast TV guide isn't showing anything on either of those channels.

The coverage of the new networks is as good as SPEED was, but so far the scheduling screwups, and airing practice, qualifying and the race on any of 3 different channels has caused me to miss a bunch of the action.

It's now a job to find what channel, and when anything is airing, and that along with not being able to trust the actual TV networks word for when and where it's all supposed to be, I am not happy with the switch from SPEED network, not happy at all.

I looked, I can't find where to log an official complaint. I would if I could.

Yeah, it is a bit ridiculous that NBC can't be clear about what is showing when. But I believe it is the same as last week, NBCSN w/ the practice/quali while CNBC has the actual race.

If all else fails I use a couple of the EU websites that stream sporting events. Comes in handy when I'm working.
